Good morning, I would like to know if there is a strong job market for CPAs in South FL. I’m planning to move there next year after finally getting my experience [after 5 years of passing the exam :)].

Me: I work as an auditor in govt in NY less than a year. Before that I worked several years in a small firm doing tax and consulting work.

You should have mentioned earlier that you were a Barce fan, send me your email, I will forward your resume to some head hunters I know. Are you interested in Miami or Fort Lauderdale?

Thanks for your help Martin. I'm a huge Barca fan; I was surprised that we won the treble this year after such a bad start to the year. Interested to see who wins the Copa America now.

I will have to update my resume though (by tomorrow the latest). Fort Lauderdale is my first preference but I'm open to working in Miami as well. I hope it doesn't turn off recruiters that I'm looking to make the move next year rather than now. (If I were to move to FL now, the state would require me to retake the exam under their 3 year licensing rule).

I was looking all around Florida and sent 5 applications to firms in Florida and received 5 email responses to schedule phone interviews the same day. I am NOT a top prime candidate with big 4 experience. These were for senior accounting positions and 3 of them were in the South Florida area. And just to note – these were all found through LinkedIn. I signed up for their 1 month trial for job seeker and clicked the box each time to add to the top of the list.

At least getting a phone interview seemed very easy. I ultimately only followed up with north Florida and have just accepted an offer :).

    @ Martin and @ bullandre

My whole family is HUGE Barca fans! I would hear their excited (very loud) screams for every goal made (of course while I was studying in the next room). LOL

CPAbefore40, my dad is from Spain, so I have always been a Barce fan. They invest a lot money on their youth academy and it is paying off. I just hope that one day soccer will be as popular in the US as it is all over the world.

Native Floridian here. I've lived in Miami, Tallahassee, Tampa, Gainesville and currently reside in Orlando. Biased, but nothing wrong with Florida, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. All cities have their good areas and bad. Coral Gables is a great part of Miami. Spent 10 years of my life there. Market is great everywhere, especially Central Florida. We have a couple Fortune 100 companies here that have just drained the C FL marketplace of CPA's, so it's a great market for the employee. Weather is great 9 months out of the year … and we also have Hurricane Parties. Only native Floridians really know how good those are.

    Licensed Florida CPA:
    B: 71, 73, 79
    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

    It's finally freaking over.
