Can anyone demystify the process of applying for an NTS?

Can exams be paid for online? How long does it take?

    Any help appreciated.

    FAR - 79
    REG - 76
    AUD - 94
    BEC - 77

    It's a process:

    1) Apply to sit for the exam through the state board of accountancy at http://www.cba.ca.gov. The application will ask you to print out a form and mail it in with a check payment. Also, there's an address to which you'll need to mail your college transcripts.

    Initial application is $100

Re-Application is $50 (if you fail and need to re-apply, it all starts back again at the state site)

    2) Roughly one to two months later, you'll get a confirmation in the mail saying whether or not you're eligible to sit for the exam. If so, this is done through nasba.org; again, this involves printing out a form and mailing a physical check.

    AUD: $192.03

    FAR: $192.03

    REG: $172.51

    BEC: $172.51

    3) Once NASBA says you're good to go via email or postal mail, you can take your NTS to prometric.com where you will locate a testing center and schedule your exam. Don't forget your NTS on test day!!

    Minimum total cost: $829.08

Estimated time from beginning of application to sitting for an exam: 3 – 4 months, depending on testing windows and things outside of your control (in my case I applied in June and didn't sit for an exam until late October)
