Illinois just updated their educational requirements for the CPA. I thought I qualified under the old requirements but I didn’t. Now I need at least 2 (3 would be better) credit hours in Accounting Research and Analysis. Can anyone recommend an online accredited course for this? I haven’t found many schools that offer it. I know it’s also a requirement in Texas so any Illinois or Texas people who took this course online, please let me know!

Great, I will probably be in the same boat as you since I doubt any of my college courses will count for this. Another silly requirement…

Any follow up on this requirement for those that have passed tests under the old requirements?

College of Dupage put up this handy pdf that kind of explains how you go about meeting the research and analysis. https://www.cod.edu/programs/accounting/pdf/new_educational_requirements.pdf

Most normal courses in an accounting program look to have some aspect of research and analysis. (Remember when we were so pissed we had to do those research papers on historical cases of fraud and other random research topics? Makes sense now!)

Hopefully this helps! I'm lucky enough to be eligible under the old requirements in Illinois. Good luck!

Brent: If you had already passed credential review under the previous requirements and are taking the exams, the new requirements do not apply to you.
