Hi.Currently, I go to cal state northridge to major in accounting. But, I am thinking to change the major to econ since their accounting course is a sequence,so it takes time to graduate, and I do not want to waste my time.I will study for a cpa exam on my own. Please let me know what accounting class I have to take to sit for an exam in California

go to the CBA website and they will tell you. There are so many different scenarios to just post it here.

    FAR 76
    REG 76(2x)
    BEC FAILED (2x)
    AUD FAILED (2x)

In a nutshell, you just need a bachelors degree, 24 units of accounting, and 24 units of business.

The CBA will not tell you if certain classes qualify or not. I took some random ones: Quickbooks, SOX, forensic accounting, etc. They were all approved by the CBA after I submitted my application to sit.

Shige, I can relate to your dilemma, because I went to CSUN too and majored in accounting. Yeah, it is a long process, but definitely worth it. Regardless of what major you choose, you still need to take 24 units of accounting, and that's pretty much most of the classes for an accounting degree. You might as well just stick with it.

You'll probably have one extra semester of school, but you will have many more options in the future with an accounting degree than in economics, not to mention all the networking that takes place at CSUN for accounting students. You should talk to Luella Jones or Prof. Weiss. I'm sure they can provide more input.

    BEC - 67, 79 - (expires 5/24)
    REG - 74, 72, 77 - Key to Passing: RTFQ
FAR - 77 - Chance favors the prepared mind.
    AUD - 64, (5/14) - FREEDOM!! (i hope)
