After 45 days of losing my transcript and evaluations:

I have 40+ units of accounting and they rejected them all because they were taken at junior colleges.

Yet they accepted my MBA business classes, even though they were not even half as hard as the accounting classes.

Should I write them back a choice letter or let it go?

    Meanwhile I applied with California.

    @MOD

Good luck with the CAL PETH. I'm gonna be real with you, I never wanted to quit my journey, never doubted my choice of studying, even when I failed FAR the first time.

    Then I took the PETH.

You will be able to sit in California. I believe you need the old Cal requirements to sit and the new requirements for the license.

Why were you looking at Montana anyway? Don't you live in California?

Passed all 4 exams in 2014!

    Ahh……

Well, according to the Montana state board regulations, the 24 credits need to be from an accredited 4 year institution.

I don't think they are elitists, I have met many past board members personally. One could argue that California's lack of reciprocity is elitist. It seems many states have their small quirks to the license.

that being said, and knowing the politics of the state, I'm not surprised. Kind of along the same reasons America will never adopt IFRS.

Luckily you can just sit for california, and if you move to Montana, apply for reciprocity after being licensed? You should double check on those reqs if that is your plan

Thank you all for the clarification.

Yes, I live in Calif, but want to work offshore (ie. Cayman, British Virgin Islands, Panama) and do not need a state cert for a particular state, but to get a job overseas, where the CPA is widely recognized.

Gleim suggests that there are seven states (Alabama, Connecticut, Hawaii, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma) which issue CPA certificates (for passing the test) that are different from the license to practice.

I went with Montana to try for such a certificate to possibly show overseas employers. I also hoped to avoid the Calif bureaucracy.

Though it is surprising to me that Calif is now considered amongst the easiest to apply to.

I would highly recommend the Cayman Islands. They never cease to amaze me each visit.

EDIT: BIG4 and Banks have an impressive presence in paradise too.

Yes, Cayman is nice, full of financial services firms, and the Big 4.

Have you seen any other offshore centers?
