Reciprocity Inquiry – Time Sensitive

    Hi all,

I’m being pressured to submitting in my CPA application. I passed all parts in NY and worked there for around a year or so, now I’m working in DE/PA and living in PA. I see myself back in NY over time, however I’m being asked by my employer to submit in the state I’m currently in. So in short, if I apply for it in DE will that hinder me from practicing in NY or PA? Or would it be more beneficial for me to just apply to NY? Is anyone familiar with the reciprocity either PA–> NY or DE-> NY? Thanks so much!!!!

Jeff, hi. Are you able to shine any light on my current situation?

I'm not an expert at all in this. I'm licensed with NY, and have an initial app with PA (that I haven't bothered with).

It seems like PA –> NY is okay, but not DE –> NY.

PA is not clear about what states they do / don't take from. In the “Domestic Reciprocity” forms, it seems like they're interested in test scores and license info from the other state. And there's a 5-year kink in there, so job verification may or may not be necessary:

If you worked under a CPA while in NY, that might be an easier bet, b/c NY has relaxed its experience requirements, i.e. does not need to be attest.

    I really can't pass again!

The “easy button” on this question is to call NY BOA and ask them about reciprocity from the state you're considering being licensed in.

    Congrats on passing!!!
