Question about Tennessee License process - Page 2

    I’ve passed the 4 sections and the ethics exam. By reading on the TN BOA website, they send a “welcome packet” once they receive confirmation of the candidate completing the CPA and ethics exam. I guess the “welcome packet” contains the application for license.

    n

    So my question is for TN CPA’s. How long does it take to receive the “welcome packet” after you pass and how long does it take the BOA to approve the license? Thanks.n

    I just found out that there are 26 applications in process as the license numbers in process range from 21080 – 22006. I wouldn't think that it would be too much longer if your name shows up on the website. It would have been sweet if I got license number 22000, but I missed it by a few.

    …application still in process per the website…the wait is killing me…well I guess it could be worse, I could still be waiting for scores…n

    I check everyday, hopefully soon it will say fully licensed for both of us. I can't wait to be able to put CPA at the end of my name.n

    Yes, me too. It's been a few weeks now since I submitted the app. Hopefully by the beginning of March we'll get the letters.n

    Still no word. I guess I'll have to call them. Anyone else from TN pass their final part(s) in the Oct/Nov window?

    I received my last passing score right before Christmas no packet for me but I got my score way later then you. I would have thought you would have received your packet by now.

    I just contacted the TN BOA and they said they're still waiting for my candidate file from examination services. So now I have contacted NASBA. We'll see….

    In TN as well. Finished last section in November, passed Ethics in last week. Nothing from the state yet. Now I have to find someone to sign off on my experience. Any suggestions? I work for a private company and need a CPA to sign off.

    CPL, so there are no CPAs in your company? Maybe someone you graduated with?

    rcfs1834 – No unfortunately there are no CPAs at our firm. I'm the Controller and report directly to the President. We are a rather small company – less than 100 employees. Any suggestions?

    I took my last section on 11/19/10 and received my final grade just before Christmas. I passed the ethics exam on 1/13/11. I received my application from the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy yesterday. I did talk to the woman over the ethics exam at the TSCPA on the phone and we exchanged a few e-mails during a waiting period to purchase the exam because they were sold out, so maybe she helped me out somehow after I finished the ethics exam. Good luck, hopefully you will receive your application in the mail sometime this week?

    CPL – does your company use a CPA firm for an audit, review, compilation, or tax return services? If so, you may be able to get someone from the CPA firm you deal with to sign off on your as they would have direct knowledge of your employment and experience. If that doesn't work for you I would probably try one of my college professors.

    Chris, great suggestions for CPL regarding the experience sign-off.
