Question About Applying for the CA CPA Exam

Hi, I’m new to the forums, and I’m hoping someone can shed some light.

I am currently applying to take the exam in CA and sent my transcripts yesterday. However, I am still in school and need the classes I am taking now to meet the 24 ACCT and 24 BUS units requirement. Grades will not post until December or January when the semester ends. Will my application be denied until the semester is over?

More background: I earned by B.A. in 2012 in an unrelated field and have already met the 150-unit requirement; I am currently going to community college to take the business and accounting classes.

Input from previous California applicants would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Stephanie

Hi Stephanie! I believe that at this stage they just use your transcripts to verify your degree. My understanding is that the specific unit requirements don't have to be fulfilled prior to taking the exam. My application was approved and I was able to schedule my first exam about a month before I got the letter that all of my units had been approved. Hope that helps!

Thank you for your response, Alex, that's reassuring. Hope this is the case.
