Professional experience – manager with non-active CPA license

My wife is almost done with the CPA exams but is worried she will not meet the professional experience requirement. She started work (more than a year ago) for a company where her manager was CPA. The manager did not pay her annual fee and her license is not active at the moment. Will the time my wife worked with her while she had an active status will count? At some point the company hired a controller which is a manager of my wife’s manager. The controller is active CPA and works with my wife on a daily basis. Can she verify the professional experience? This is for Colorado. My wife has about 8 years of experience as accountant outside of USA. Not sure if this can be used. Thanks in advance.

Just call the state board and ask them. TN let me count experience without even working under a CPA and our external auditor was able to verify my experience.
