I have passed all CPA exams as of June 2013, and sent all my papers to NJ State Board of Accountancy.
The last remaining piece is Statement of Experience from my employer.
My boss is very busy, traveling to Japan almost once a month, and even in the States, he rarely comes to the office where I work from. Anyhow, I managed to get Statement of Experience form filled, signed by him, and got notary stamp on it. It took about a month.
But, that was not it!
Each Statement of Experience needs to come with Transmittal letter with corporate letterhead.
He drafted transmittal letter, and had his secretary revise the letter. It took 1 week. But at that time he was in Japan, so couldn’t really sign on the letter itself.
It has been additional 2 weeks since transmittal letter was finalized. I am patiently waiting for him to come to my base office so he can sign on transmittal letter, and I can send it off to State Board of Accountancy.
I heard CPA licensure is a breeze in big4, but it is not as easy in industry companies because there is no common process in place for CPA licensing, and most of employees end up getting CPA even before moving to the companies, while they are in big 4.
sigh.. I just want the 3 letters in the back of my name as soon as possible.
Anyone having similar experience?
