OT: IL License Application Question

Hello NINJAS! In part V, the instructions say to ONLY report passed sections and it specifically says NOT to report failed attempts. Then when I get to that actual section, it says that you must report all attempts at the exams, even fails and no-shows.

I called the state. Of course, after being on hold for 45 minutes, the woman said that, “I think you don’t have to report failed attempts.” I asked if she could find out for sure and she said that they are really busy and I should call back. !!!!!!

I took the exam 8 years ago in Indiana. I have no idea what months or what my scores were and I’ve been digging around to find them. Would you guys err on the side of reporting all of the attempts vs. just the passed sections? Has anyone who has taken the exam more than once had this issue? Any help is appreciated!

    AUD - 71, 76 (Becker only)

I'm from IL too and am in the process of filling out my license app. I'm almost positive that you only report passes. I guess I figure they have no need for the failed attempts; they just want to be able to quickly verify that you've passed each section and that it was within the 18 months. So I guess I'm saying go with what the directions say, not with what the actual section says.

    F - PASSED (11/26/11)
    A - PASSED (1/14/12)
    B - PASSED (7/14/12)
    R - PASSED (8/31/12)
    Ethics Exam - 95 %

Just waiting to be able to put those three little letters behind my name...

Thanks holmea. I went with not reporting all of my attempts. Reporting all of the scores could be for a situation that is not my own so I'm going with the CPA – Acceptance of Examination instructions. It's in the mail now – no turning back! πŸ™‚

Awesome! I think that'll be all you need for the Acceptance of Exam application. I'm still waiting for my certificate number so that I can send mine in so hopefully I'll get that soon. Let me know how everything goes!

    F - PASSED (11/26/11)
    A - PASSED (1/14/12)
    B - PASSED (7/14/12)
    R - PASSED (8/31/12)

I thought we had to wait for a packet of applications/documentation to come in the mail before we apply for the license. Where did you get the Acceptance of Exam application? Do I need to be sending anything else in? I'm still waiting for my certification number as well, but was hoping to have everything else done since this process takes so long.

    @CantTakeTheWait

When I called IBOE they said you should wait two weeks after you are certified to send your application for license.

I received my score last score release and I'm still not certified on the website. They have had my ethics score since the first week of September so I called them and they didn't know where my file was but they said they were busy and would get it done this week.

NIU CPA Review Correspondence is awesome!

I passed all four sections on the first attempt

Here is the link for the application:

    https://www.idfpr.com/renewals/apply/PublicAccountant.asp

I did the first one – Licensed Certified public accountant – Acceptance of the exam.

You need to stalk the IBOE website (where you get your scores) and your certification number will appear automatically. You need the number for your application and the date you were certified.

I passed my last exam in July and then took Ethics early August. I was certified 8/22. They told me to wait until the 3rd week of September before I applied. I hope this helps!

    Thanks!

Is it true that if we get licensed after 10/1, we skip the next CPE cycle meaning that we won't have to track all of our CPE for 3 years, turning it in after 6 years?

@Canttakethewait, what you said sounds vaguely familiar. One of my co-workers joked that I shouldn't get licensed until after 9/30 (and it ended up turning out that way) b/c of the CPE requirement. Unfortunately, I can't find anything on point that supports your statement though! But I think you might be right!

@holmea52 – did you get your certificate number yet? I'm still not showing up on the IL board of examiners website.
