I’m one hour short in my 30 minimum accounting hours in the State of North Carolina. I currently have 29 hours and was thinking about going to a community college and taking one of their online courses. They offer a computerized accounting quickbooks course. I know it’s an accredited university but how will I know whether or not the class will count towards the 30 hours?

It counts in California. Call your states board of accountancy or read the cpa candidate hand book for your state. In California's handbook it actually states that Quickbook classes qualify.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

I would anticipate that if it is an accounting code (starts with “ACCT”, “ACC'”, etc), that's probably all that the state board looks at. Just as long as it doesn't need to be upper-level – I'm assuming that the community college's class will be lower-level.
