So I passed all 4 parts of the exam in December but I still need to go back to school to get the 150 credits. Once you pass all 4 parts, do they ever expire?

I took the exam in PA.

Yes, they do expire. The time frame varies from state to state. Florida expires in 3 years.

Licensed Florida CPA:
B: 71, 73, 79
A: 83
R: 78 (expired), 77
F: 74, 74, 80

There are some states in which they never expire.

FAR- 77
AUD -49, 71, 84
REG -56,75!
BEC -75

Looks like in Pennsylvania, completed exam credit does not expire. But I'd call them and confirm.

Apparently PA exam credit never expires … this is from page 18 of the link jlough shared:

“Once you have passed all four parts of the exam, your completed exam

credit will never expire.”

In Virginia, they do not expire.Called and confirmed.

Also the ethics exam once passed does not expire,provided you preserve the record of passing the ethics exam.

In California once all four parts are passed they never expire – Thank GOD!!

Ethics – expires after 2 yrs.

Florida makes up for it's suckiness by not having an Ethics Exam 🙂 (But I honestly don't think that 3 years though is too much to ask to fit in a few extra classes after passing the exam.) An additional perk for Florida: The fact that it is one of the most difficult to become licensed (at least was, before the rest of the country started implementing 150 hrs), once you are licensed, reciprocity is a breeze should you ever have to move.

Agreed. I'm not worried about getting the classes in. If I can get through the exam by July, I should be done with the classes by December. The part that sucks is if you are a newcomer to the accounting field or a recent graduate, making sure you get the one year work experience in that 3 year time frame. Bring required to get hired in accounting and report to a CPA for 1 year before your exams expire would be stressful if you have trouble finding a job. I'm glad I'm not in that situation and feel bad for those that are.
