Old Work Experience…Does it meet the Requirements?

Hey guys, I’m about to finally start taking the CPA exam seriously after 8 years of work. I have all of the schooling and work experience I need, but my work “under a CPA” ended in 2009. I am now on my own working for small businesses and own my own company.

My question: Does my old work experience count?

Check with your state, it may still count. Also will that CPA still sign off on your experience?

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

Yes, I'm sure they will sign off. I'll check the Georgia info. Thanks!

I have the same situation in CA. I worked at a large regional CPA firm from 2000 to 2005 under a CPA. I recently got serious about the CPA exam and passed 2 parts. I got VERY nervous when I saw something about stale work experience.

I just got off the phone with CA State Board and they stated I would be fine since I am bringing myself up to date with current accounting standard by studying and passing the CPA exam. The stale work experience is counted.

They also said, if I had old scores and new work experience they could require additional CPE to bring me up to date on current accounting standards.

    Hope this help…

    AUD | 78 - 8/15/12
    BEC | 77 - 8/30/12
    REG | 76 - 1/28/13
    FAR | 75 - 4/2/2013
    Ethics | 96
    CA License - 7/23/2013
