It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that’s changed? Thanks!

Post up the rest of your scores, interested to see how you did after a 98 on FAR, impressive.
You're not even a month out, I think you have a ways to go yet but hopefully soon.October 24, 2020 at 6:31 pm #3137622lurkerParticipantAUD – 96

Well done!October 27, 2020 at 12:50 pm #3139701lurkerParticipantThank you! I was a little bummed out that I missed on the award but happy nevertheless that the exams were over.
November 6, 2020 at 9:49 am #3147369Operation_CPAParticipantHi all – is there a more efficient way to get status updates from Albany? I sent in all my information about 6 weeks ago, sent a follow-up email to make sure they got everything, and have not heard back. All I am really looking to do is confirm is that they received all my forms to avoid unnecessary delays. My understanding is they will not provide updates over the phone either. Any advice is appreciated.
November 9, 2020 at 11:16 am #3149982AGIParticipantIf you are simply looking to see if they got your forms, call the number on the website for customer service, press the “how to apply for an application” option, wait for the system to say it's speech and then keep pressing until you got the “say your profession”, then you said accounting, and then you will be transfer to unit 3, and then more speech, wait for the line to be pick up and explain to the customer representative NICELY that you are simply looking to confirm if your forms were there. They will be able to give you an answer.
It will take every form 2 weeks after arrival at Albany to be in the system.
And once it's in the system it will take up to 4 weeks for them to be reviewed by the board. (Which at that time the board will decided if you deserve a license).

They can only confirm if they received a particular form. There's a possibility that you think you don't need a form, then you were notified that you do.
Happened to me.
But if you did EVERY FORM. Then they will be able to give you an answer.
You should also try to send the board another email. Like every week. They track emails directly to your profile. Your new email will likely prompt them to look at your profile and response to you faster. (Guessing)

Now waiting to see my name online, which will probably take another month or so. My experience was pretty smooth and all the questions were answered if you call the customer service line nicely.
Btw, just curious, does anyone know what the actual size of the New York State CPA certificate is? Planning to hang my certificate once I get it haha.
December 16, 2020 at 3:16 pm #3185426AleksParticipantHas anyone received their license in December and have a little insight into the current wait times? I sent my application in about 30 days ago and got an email response from office of professions saying my application was forwarded to the board and they would reach out to me via email if anything is missing.
Is there any way to see what the date is on the applications the board is currently reviewing? I am also unsure if this is first document review or the final one prior to approval. I'm worried about my education credits as I had 158 credits when I sent transcripts to the office of professions and a few classes being disallowed would but me below the 150 limit.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated, the waiting and licensing process is nerve wreaking..
January 9, 2021 at 11:14 am #3205670Operation_CPAParticipantHi all – wanted to provide a complete update on my timeline to getting licensed (it's official!). I have always found this thread to be particularly useful so figured I would pay it forward.
– 9/24 – Application sent via online portal
– 9/25 – Transcripts from 4 separate universities sent
– 9/30 – Form 4B sent
– 11/10 – Approved by board
– 12/7 – Received email from NYSED indicating my status/expected timeline going forward (FYI – I had sent two previous inquiry emails before this without a response). Within this note they stated my 11/10 approval date above.
12/30 – Date of licensure
1/2 – License received in mail (although I can't say exactly when this was received as I don't check my mailbox often, but the turnaround was quick to receipt)
January 27, 2021 at 12:37 pm #3222395ReckedParticipantThanks for sharing the update.
Nice to see they are still getting these licenses processed during COVID.
The timeline doesn't even seem that far off compared with prior years either.January 29, 2021 at 8:16 am #3223625AleksParticipantI recently was issued my license number so I figured I would share my timeline as i know how frustrating it can be waiting and getting close to no updates.
11/11/2020:
Ordered transcripts to be sent to NYS dept. of education. I had to to this because I sat with 120 credits and got the other 30 while I was sitting for exams.
11/13/2020: Day 1
Submitted my NYS application online and remitted payment.
12/14/2020: Day 31
My file was reviewed by the office of professions for completeness and sent to the board. Note: I emailed twice for updates. OPUNIT3@nysed.gov is the best way to contact the office that does this review. I used the online contact option first and received a response from them weeks after I emailed this address.
01/07/2021: Day 55
The board of directors approved my application. I again emailed a couple times for updates. It is worth noting that this is a different department, OPUNIT3 will not be able to help you while the file is in this office. The email for this department is cpabd@nysed.gov. You will get an auto reply, but then eventually someone in the office will answer your email.
01/11/2021: Day 59
The office of professions received my application from the board, and the final review by them was complete. Application sent to processing queue. I sent one more email to the OPUNIT3 address a couple weeks after this asking nicely for the date of application they were currently working on. The date I asked for was the queue entrance date since they are done first come first serve.
01/26/2021: Day 74
License number is posted online. It was interesting to see all the names pop up on the verification tool while I waited. Trick is to find the last issued license number then go back and add 1. Eventually you see yours issued.
The most important thing to remember when emailing is to be as nice as possible. There are people on the other side of the address and have a job to do, which can at times be delayed with a variety of things happening. Make sure to include your name, DOB, and last 4 of your SSN in every request email to make their life easier, that way they don't have to hunt.
I haven't gotten my license in the mail yet, but I am happy to know i am officially licensed and a CPA. The piece of paper can take as long as it needs to at this point.
January 29, 2021 at 12:41 pm #3223796GWParticipantAlright, I officially sent in my Form 1 today. letus see how long this thing takes.
February 8, 2021 at 3:20 pm #3231732SSParticipantMy timeline:
11/15/2020: I sent everything to NYS DOE
12/10/2020: the office informed me that my package was sent to board for review
I didn't follow up for 2 months.
2/5/2021: I received my license in mail and the issue date was 2/2March 1, 2021 at 9:45 am #3250065GWParticipantFirst status update,
Supervisors sent last two Form 4Bs to the email address on Feb 05, 2021
Emailed OPUNIT3 on Feb 25 for status update
March 1st, OPUNIT3 informed me the file was sent to board for review on date Feb 10, 2021, approximate time for processing 4 weeks.
