schwalekParticipantTigeracct is correct, licenses are now being processed again. I followed up today and received notice that my application was (finally) approved by the board. So, the total time from when my application was forwarded to the board to when it was approved was almost exactly 3 months (forwarded 12/27/19 & approved 3/24/20). Hoping to see it posted to the website soon so I can finally put those 3 letters after my name! Good luck everyone!

tigeracctParticipant@schwalek DId you call or use the website to request an update?

schwalekParticipantAll of my correspondence has been via email. The contact is OPUNIT3@nysed.gov. The woman I have been dealing with has been extremely helpful and responds quickly. Be sure to provide your full name, DOB, and last 4 of your SSN for them to pull your file as easily as possible.

fozman422ParticipantHi Everyone,
Just wanted to provide my timeline.

Application approved an forwarded to processing unit: 04/07/20
License number posted on website: 04/10/20Even during this pandemic, NYS is still giving out licenses. It took a long time, but I can finally call myself a CPA!!!!

anyzzkaParticipantThanks for sharing your progress!
Good to hear licenses are still being issued.Question: once the board approves you, do you get an automatic email, notifying you that you have been approved?
Also- what are the chances that they will kick your application back when it’s already with Board? Is it safe to assume that my education is OK once it is sent to the Board?
April 24, 2020 at 5:57 am #2986061
fozman422ParticipantNo. They didn't send anything. I had to go through the contact us site on the new york state office of professions. This is the link: http://www.op.nysed.gov/contact.htm
They respond very quickly the times i asked.
I was in constant fear that for some reason they would kick my application back. Honestly, I'm not sure what the chances are. I have not heard any instances from people I know. No news is good news from the board. Good luck.April 25, 2020 at 2:43 pm #2986862
anyzzkaParticipantI just randomly checked CPA verify (after considering emailing for status update) – and my name popped up! Two weeks ahead of the estimated 3-month wait time.
Application forwarded to the board: February 6

Jack PimpstoneParticipantHi all, NYSED forwarded my application to the CPA Board on 3/3/20. Does this mean all my documents were good and satisify the CPA requirements already? or the Board has to review for the qualification?
Thanks very much

if you want things to change, you have to do something differentSeptember 24, 2020 at 8:49 pm #3112253
Operation_CPAParticipantCan someone please explain to me the overall end to end process for how they went about having their University fill in form 2 (i.e., the registrar). I have to fill out form 2 for four separate schools, so I would like to get this right the first go around (especially if I need to instruct someone). Most universities appear to be using 3rd parties for transcript requests, so I am curious how this works.
Thank you and really appreciate any responses!

AGIParticipantHave all of your educational institutions submit Form 2 and your transcripts to the State Education Department only if:
you received your post-secondary education in whole or in part from outside the United States, or
you have already passed the Uniform CPA Examination, either in New York or in another jurisdiction.——
You sure you need to fill out Form 2? If you were outside of the country or took the CPA exam outside of NY?If you were in NY, you don't have to do Form 2 at all. Go to NASBA instead.
If you absolutely need to do Form 2, and you or somebody is able to physically get to the school, go to the transcript office with the form, and they will take in your request. If you cannot make it to the school, request transcript online as it is, in the process there will be an option call “add paper and mail with transcript” as well as a bunch of option. Fill out part 1, upload it, and call your school's transcript office. They will be able to assist you. The school download and print the stuff off the system and put it in the mail anyway. You just got to make sure you call before they mail out your thing.

AGIParticipantHas anyone heard from the board recently or know the timeframe?
I submitted my application a month ago, requested confirmation from the online contact me 2 weeks ago, just to confirm they received it, no response. (I mailed in my application.)
Does it usually take that long to response to an e-mail?

lurkerParticipantAlso curious on the current processing time as I had my application approved by the board on 9/28 but I still don't see my name on the online verification tool.
