It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that’s changed? Thanks!

Hey all, been following this forum for a few weeks, anxiously awaiting my license.
I checked my status and they said I was sent to the board for review on 7/25.

Looks like they're up to 7/22 (https://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/cpa/) updated today 8/29.
On 8/2 they were up to 7/9, so went through 2 weeks of applications in 4 weeks.

For whats its worth, I did not get an email saying I was passed on for review, I had to reach out.

Bianca – I received my license number today.

I was approved by the board on 7/19 and I was approved by the final processing unit on 8/9. Hope this helps!

    Michelle- Congratulations !

Thank you for this information. I am still confused about how to know which date the board approved and which date the final processing unit approved. Did you receive 2 emails stating so?

    Thnaks!

I didn't receive any emails so I wouldn't go based off that. If you call x160 which is the board they will tell you what day you were approved. For me that was 7/19. Then it is passed along to final processing which is x270 and you can ask them what day your final approval took place. Once you're approved by final processing you are put in line to receive a license number. They say it takes 2-3 weeks from the day you were approved by final processing to see your name on the website and I waited just about 3 weeks.

I was issued my license number today. For anyone who is looking for a timeline, I was put in the queue on 8/19/2019.

I was reading this thread last night and came across a good post about someone emailing cpabd@nysed.gov to check on their status…figured I'd share here because they responded today. I was previously told that my stuff was sent to the board on 7/18/19 (I can't remember the exact date I sent it in though, probably a few weeks before. I believe I emailed a different email for that info.) I received the following email back:

    “Congratulations!

The New York State Board for Public Accountancy has approved your education, exams, and experience for licensure. Your application has been forwarded to Processing Unit 3 for a final review. You should anticipate receiving your license parchment and initial registration certificate in the mail in the next several weeks.

You can verify your licensure status through our on-line verification system within a few weeks of receipt of this message. If you cannot view your licensure status at that time, please contact Processing Unit 3 at OPUNIT3@nysed.gov or 518.474.3817 ext. 270.”

If you email them, they will probably be able to give some useful info.

If you have already sent in your 120 credits, do you only have to send the additional 30 or all of it again? Please advise!

Any updates from anyone? I was sent to the board on September 6th and I am hoping it doesn't take 12-16 weeks like I was told by the processing unit.

How can you check the status of your application online? Or do you you just need to call the main office?

Before it gets passed on to the board you can email the processing unit at opunit3@nysed.gov. Once it is passed on to the board you can call them to see what date they are up to processing applications. I always found it easier to email the processing unit as the website never seemed to be up to date.

Hi guys, I have a question on NYS CPA license application. For Question 23 where it asks to fill out college/universities attended. Do I need to fill out all the colleges that I took college-credit classes from (including when I was a senior in high school)? or just schools that I received college degrees from?

I feel like asking every single school that I had taken classes for college credit is excessive because my undergrad school should have all those records already.
