It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that’s changed? Thanks!

YEes I know!! This is insane. Just going back a few weeks there has never been such a shortage in the number of license numbers issued. Unbelievable! I don't understand what the hold up is.

where are you seeing how many were issued?

I just go based off of the license number. License numbers are issued in numerical order. For instance, the last license # issued was 131345 so if you back track you can see which date each was issue. I keep searching by license # 131346 which will be the next # issued but there have been none issued today.

One of my old managers just looked up the info and said “wow they've done nothing in August” — maybe because its peak summer month for them not to do anything compared to the other 11 months of the year?

They literally have done nothing. I even went as far back and compared it to this time of year last year and they were much more active. I just hope they hurry up.

yeah looks like they processed 45 in the last month — in 2 days in october that I looked up they did 64. interesting to see how there is zero pattern

    Hey All–
In trying to clarify this process, could you please help me understand if the following is correct:

    1. NYS receives all elements of the application
    2. NYS approves the application and sends an approval email
    3. NYS send the application to the Board
    4. The Board approves

From the comments above it seems to me that the 7/17/2019 “Currently Reviewing Items Received” date corresponds to #2/#3. That is, all sufficient applications received 7/16 and earlier have been approved. Is that a correct interpretation?

The final component of my application was delivered to their office on 7/18, so I've been waiting eagerly while the date has sat at 7/17 for a week. If they get to it and approve it, my understanding is they will email me notifying me of the approval and it will be passed to the Board for official approval. Is that an accurate understanding (as far as we can tell)?

Yes @Ma781 — the 7/17 you are seeing was updated 8/8. Before that it was updated 7/25 so it seems like they update it every two weeks. And you are correct. the “Currently Reviewing Items Received” is the initial approval of your docs at which point you are sent to the board. My coworkers docs just got approved 8/14 and sent to the board but as of yesterday they are only up to 7/15.

I am still not 100% sure of how the entire process works. I also feel like there are different order of events for different applicants. My experience was a bit different then above. I sent in my entire application back in maybe Dec 2018 knowing that I still needed additional credits. Once I finished all of my credits I sent them into the board along with an additional form 4B for experience (they had an issue with my first one). Once they received all of my additional documents I was told I had been “reassigned to the board” on 7/25. On 8/14 I received an email stating the board has approved my exams, education & experience and I am being sent to Unit 3 for a final review.

According to previous posts, there seems to be two important dates: the initial application approval and then a final review approval. I am not really sure how to differentiate the two.

I contacted the processing unit 3. This is the response I received:

“It is our busiest time of year and we have hundreds of new applications coming in and hundreds of licenses to issue. We are getting through them as quickly as we can. Your file was put into the licensing queue on 8/19/19. The license should be issued in 2-3 weeks.”

Hoping this could be of help to some of you.

Would say 4-6 is probably more accurate since I'm already at 5 weeks and a day from 7/18.

It looks like 13 license numbers were issued today. Maybe they will start to turn things around a little quicker.

Keeping my fingers crossed but not holding my breath. By all accounts, it seems as though applications are being reviewed and approved…but for whatever reason, licenses aren't being issued. During a brief moment of intrigue, I looked up how many were issued last year during August: 127788-128000, for a total of 213. This year, only 131336-131359 for a total of 24 licenses issued in August. Not sure if the hamster fell off the wheel at the license number generating factory or what, but it's certainly an anomaly in a bad way.

I am glad you have humor in this lol. Yep there was some activity yesterday but not much. The only pattern I have seen in the licensing # issue is that it seems they do not issue license #'s on a Tuesday. I am not sure why, but I have gone far back and there has been no #'s issued on a Tuesday. I guess tomorrow is a new day.

Yeah – looks like they're only issued MWF with the exception of a rare Thursday here and there
