It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that’s changed? Thanks!

Do I need to submit form 2? I met the 150 requirement prior to sitting for the exam.

Form 2 – Certification of Professional Education- Submit this form to your college(s) if your education for the 150 requirement was not approved prior to sitting for the exam by NASBA.
I would say no, probably not, but NASBA needs to send your education along to NYS. Sometimes they fail to do that resulting in a delay, so stay on top of it.

    DM,

How did they notify you? My information was sent to the board the day after yours.

    Thanks

Hey guys, I have a quick question in regards to experience verification for NY. Do you know if a retired (old partner of the firm who no longer works now at all) can fill the experience form? Also, is it ok if the experience is before starting the cpa exams? Thank you.

My understanding is that they have to be actively licensed in the state they are supervising you during the time period they are vouching for your experience.
They also need to be employed in the same business/agency/organization.
If the partner was actively working at the time, and was actively licensed, I think it should not be a problem, assuming its not a long long time ago.
Some states have rules about how far back the work experience can be, but I do not believe NY has any such limitation.
    _
You can have him send in the Form 4B now, and they should add it to your file, assuming you have already filed a Form 1 as well.

I called in today and they said they forwarded to the board and the timeline is now 16 weeks. is it really that long? or they just say so? does it depend on the time of the year? I see on posts that for some it took approximately 8-10 weeks.

I was told it would take 16 weeks also, but in reality it took 2 months not 4. I think they're giving themselves a little extra cushion in case it takes longer to get through all of the applications.

I think it took me close to 20 during 2017.
I would anticipate the full 16 weeks and maybe you'll get lucky.
It depends on the time or year and how many people passed/how many staff have vacations, etc.
Supply and demand like anything else.

You made it this far. Sit back, relax. Maybe set up some interviews for a new gig that requires CPA. Keep your eye on the job markets and be patient. Congrats! You will be licensed soon. Call them at the 4 week mark and then 8 week mark for status.

Thanks for your input! Either way, I gotta wait until April because turning then 21, which is a requirement in NY. But they said I can apply and they sent to the board because it will take that long minimum. Is there a way to check where they are upto? I see on previous posts stating which date the board is on.

There is no way to check the processing date they are on except to email/call them, or if other people going through the struggle post their timelines here as they are approved.
