It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that’s changed? Thanks!

Hi all, I just completed all 4 parts of the exam in NYS. How long does it take to receive the congratulatory letter in the mail or by email and who does it come from? NYS or NASBA? Thanks!

I feel like it took about a month to get my letter from NASBA.
You don't need to wait for the letter, all the forms for the CPA application/experience etc are available on the NYS CPA website.

Application mailed and received by NYS: 9/26/2018
    Application sent to Board: 10/16/2018
License No. on Board Website: 12/12/2018

Not sure when it was actually approved by the board, but before it was posted on the website. Didn't ask. Overall about 10 weeks processing time. Not as bad as I was anticipating. Christmas came early.

    BEC: ☑ x1 attempt(s)
    REG: ☑ x2 ''
    AUD: ☑ x1 ''
    FAR: ☑ x2 ''

    Done!

Has anyone had issues with the education requirements? I had mine approved over email by a NASBA rep. At the time, my school had filed for bankruptcy and was going out of business so I had them send the transcript before they ceased operations. Now I'm being told I have to submit the education form to my school 🙁 should I still submit everything else as sort this out later on?

Yes, submit it asap to get your place in line.
Hopefully NASBA will send your transcripts along with your scores.
Or maybe NY already has it on file. Be sure to keep tabs on this, never assume its going along smoothly just because you have not heard from NYS.

11/28 – All docs and forms received by Office of Professions
12/12 – Application sent to Board
??/?? – Will update once decision received… woman said anywhere from 10-12 weeks from here! But could be sooner.
What have people done to celebrate this wonderful milestone? Aside from changing your email signature and LinkedIn to show the CPA letters. I want to get a tat that says ‘CP-GAY' on my bum.

Where do you guys check that the application was sent to the Board? I mailed everything in 12/13, education reqs sent to NYSED 12/14, probably too soon to know anything else but if you have a link can you share it?
I have not done the glorious 3 letter signature addition yet because I read somewhere that you actually need to have a license to be able to do that

No website to check application status besides the NYS CPA verification to see if your license number has been issued yet.
Your only option is to call the CPA Board directly to get updates on your file, unless they contact you.
You can also e-mail them, but it takes about 2-3 days to get a reply.
Phone and e-mail are available on the NYS Education page, same place you get application forms etc.

Did anyone call the board recently?

Has anyone called recently to find out what date the board is on?

Called today. The board doesn't inform the admin staff what date they are on. You need to judge by this forum or get lucky with calling office of professions for information. Did anyone get licensed recently that has a timeline of when they submitted to the board?

I wish there was more transparency and a way to track your status. Like I know my paperwork was finally sent the board on 11/16/18 but I have no clue when and if I was approved. It's so annoying outisde of them saying 8-12 weeks. That means nothing.

It is what it is I'm afraid, you just have to be patient and wait it out. We've all been there.
I would think you are getting pretty close based on the last reported timeline.
I would be checking the NYS CPA verification website everyday for your name to appear.

Called today. Board received all forms on 12/12/18, so its been a month. The woman said my experience is currently under review and that I have 10 weeks left. What does that mean, my experience is under review!? I had 4 years at Big4. I hope this is just a part of the process and nothing out of the ordinary. Any comments would be well appreciated. The only thing I am worried about is 6 online credits from University of Phoenix, which was Business Communications and Accounting Research.

Part of the experience review is to make sure you supervising CPA had a valid license for the period they are vouching for your experience.
From what I was told this was handled by a separate department. They need to verify your supervisor was in good standing, no lapses in license, etc.
It's all just part of the process. At least they said experience review and not education review. I'd call again in another 4 weeks to make sure there are no issues.
