It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that’s changed? Thanks!

I was approved by the board on 6/27 and still do not see my name on the NYS website. Hopefully tomorrow.

Congratulations Mick, at least the process is finally over for you.

Regarding the experience requirement, random thought, but I was wondering, if a supervising CPA signed off on your Form 4B, and at the time of signing off was an actively licensed CPA in the respective State, would the experience count if at the time of processing (or whenever they validate and accept the experience representation) that said CPA is no longer actively licensed?

Judging by this thread it looks like there's roughly a 3 month turnaround (assuming all goes ‘smoothly'), so if in those 3 months for whatever reason the CPA becomes inactive, your experience may not be accepted?

My understanding is the CPA needs to be active/licensed and current, in the state where the experience supervision is taking place.
If the CPA becomes inactive AFTER the experience time frame, I don't think they can hold that against you, assuming they did not become inactive due to some fraud or other reason.

I just called the Board and the lady on the phone told me that it takes around 4-5 weeks just to process form 1 and that they havne't receive my form 4B yet, it's weird because my employer mailed out my form 4B the day when I mailed out my Form 1

@Recked – Thank you for the information, I assumed the same but figured I just throw it out there.

@CPATang – Same here regarding the mailing of the forms (boss mailed it out same day as I mailed form 1). Would you mind sharing the phone you called them with?

Also, boss told me that he filled in “Present” on 4B i.e. supervised from when to when …. he filled in the actual start date but since I'm still working here he put present instead of an actual date, has anyone faced any issue with this?

My Boss also indicated PRESENT as the to date, there was no problem with my Form 4B to verify my 15 years experience.
There was also a letter from boss on company letterhead indicating that I was still employed full time.

I think the PRESENT date will be determined by the date the Form 4B is signed, so I would not worry about that at all.

I cannot stress enough how much the $20 overnight mailing fee is worth in terms of knowing it was delivered (and as fast as possible).
If you can't afford overnight, at least send it certified (and request that your boss or firm send it certified) so you have tracking information.
This is basic type stuff in this profession, never trust USPS, ever.

Agreed. Anything sent to a govt agency should be sent certified mail. The 5 week processing time is news to me. I dont think mine took nearly that long. Its the board review that takes months.

+1 for Overnight, sent mine that way, as did my boss. You're absolutely right, in this profession, half of the battle is tracking and confirming that items were appropriately delivered/received. USPS has really dropped standards lately, we get mail stuffed in the mailbox at 5 pm which are “Signature Required” and “Guaranteed by 12:00 pm).

    Wonderful example for you.
June 28th I mailed time sensitive audit documents to Albany via certified mail. Should have been a 1 day trip, or 2 at the max as I am literally under one hour from Albany.
Followed the tracking closely and also supplied the # to the agent.
Package made its way down to DFW TX, before eventually being re-routed and sent back to Albany, ultimately delivered on July 5th.

If I didn't have that tracking number, the agent never would have believed me. Unreal.

My firm mailed form 4B two weeks ago, I called them today and was able to confirm that they received it on 7/6. The lady on the phone said that they didn't receive my last exam score yet and she said it might take couple months for them to receive, that sounds crazy. I asked her what is the processing time, she said once we get the scores, they will forward the application to board for review which will take about 16 weeks??? what the f#^*. The lady was like, we are getting hundreds of applications and it may take a long time. I don't I got the right person? I mean this is f#^*!@g crazy…

The board was obviously on vacation for two weeks and now it looks like its the processing dept’s turn to take off. I think one license was issued this week.

Question for those who passed all 4 exams by 6/27 or 6/28, did anyone receive the congratulatory letter from NASBA? I heard that you are supposed to get it after 1 or 2 weeks from passing all 4.

Also, can someone share the contact info at NASBA (NY), so I can request that letter? Thanks
