It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that’s changed? Thanks!

You may want to e-mail NASBA or call them to find out. It would really suck to miss something that might hold you up.
16 weeks today. Waiting is the hardest part……

August 7, 2017 at 11:15 am #1596038se98ParticipantSo on the 21st when I was told they were processing applications from March 17, that is a 126 day time frame. I'm now at 131 days. I guess hopefully that means they're working on applications from my day now? I feel like this is the most ridiculous process.

August 7, 2017 at 6:04 pm #1596264se98ParticipantI got an e-mail!!! They need 37 more days of experience submitted (I have plenty, no problem), but at least I finally have hope!

i wonder if you retain your spot in line or if you got back in line once your additional information is submitted? Can you elaborate why they would need an additional 37 days? That's an unusual number.
August 8, 2017 at 11:42 am #1596555AnonymousInactive@ReckedRacing, i think you retain your spot. My bf was missing some info, once he sent it back and they received it, the review was finalized within few days.
I got an email today that they've been reviewing applications received on 3/29/2017. Makes sense – that's why se98 got an email yesterday. We are getting there, guys!
August 8, 2017 at 1:32 pm #1596660se98Participant@ReckedRacing, my 37 days thing is a bit unique. I actually first signed up for the exams in 2009 with my 120 hours. Life happened and I didn't complete then. I then several years later received my MS in Accounting fulfilling the 150 hours. So, when I submitted my license application I checked the box to have them evaluate under the 150 hour rules. Not sure if they didn't see that or didn't get that transcript (communication with my school has not been great on that front). So, I need 2 years experience submitted, not one, and my supervisor had signed off on 693 days, leaving me 37 short. I figure it's just easier to submit the additional experience than worry about which path I'm evaluated on.

Just curious.August 8, 2017 at 3:52 pm #1596774se98ParticipantTwo reasons, first and foremost, I wasn't competitive in my job market. I was told directly by HR reps that although I interviewed well, they were choosing candidates with the higher education level. I also am kinda weird in that I just like school. Now that I'm done with my CPA exams I'm considering using my employer's education reimbursement for economics classes, just b/c I find it interesting, not with any career goal in mind. I just like to know stuff.

AUD 10/2016August 9, 2017 at 3:19 pm #1597328AnonymousInactiveSo devastated… Got an email from the Board and they said I was missing 3 academic credits in business course. So upset because back in school 3 years ago, Becker rep told us that they needed 36 in accounting, so I went to get another 3 credits in accounting after my graduation (my BBA was providing only 33 acc credits). Apparently that was wrong, as NY State needs 33 in accounting and 36 in business.
Now the only solution that comes to my mind is to take a course for those 3 credits, but don't know where. And that course is better be an online one.
Any other advice on how to get those 3 credits?
August 9, 2017 at 3:25 pm #1597337ReckedParticipantSorry to hear the bad news. I am surprised NASBA didn't throw a flag on your transcripts.
I have heard of people using SNHU as an online school, but it would be best to check the list of approved schools on the NYS CPA website.
I checked the link and do not see SNHU on the list of approved schools, but you also don't need to pursue the whole degree.
I would suggest you pick an online school, and then confirm with NYS CPA Board via e-mail, in writing whether the credits will apply.
Even that would not be fool proof as it is usually a secretary that responds to e-mails.
Good luck, and remember its only a minor set back, you are only 3 credits away!https://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/cpa/cpalic.htm
AACSB Programs. You must complete an accounting program that is accredited by an accrediting body accepted by the Department. Currently, the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) is accepted. The school must be accredited in business and accounting by AACSB. Receipt of a Master's degree in accounting from such a program will be deemed as meeting New York's 150 semester hour education requirements. I've been looking at that list. Thinking i could use some business communication course. Found some online management communication from Harvard, but it's only $110 and not sure how many credits, will have to look closely into that.
