It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that’s changed? Thanks!

@Yahmon- I think you have to send Form 2 to the school and have them fill out their part and submit it with your transcript.

This is from the nysed.gov website:

Submission to the State Education Department

Have all of your educational institutions submit Form 2 and your transcripts to the State Education Department only if:

you received your post-secondary education in whole or in part from outside the United States, or
you have already passed the Uniform CPA Examination, either in New York or in another jurisdiction.

The form 2 should be completed as follows:

Form 2, Section I: Complete this section of the form before sending it to your school.
Form 2, Section II: The Registrar must complete this section and return the form directly to the Office of the Professions at the address on the form.

So I called and confirmed with NYS Office of Prof about my Form 1. They said they have it their system and also asked what is current time frame to process the license, they said it is between 10-12 weeks. My firm just mailed the form 4B yesterday, hopefully they can process sooner.

They always say 8-12 weeks. Even when it was 16 weeks at one point.

I would love to know how it is possible that the number of applications approved can fluctuate so wildly from time to time yet consistently fall around a similar number of applications approved each month.

Im pretty sure they work their asses off for 5 days a month and get to coast the rest.

The number is 518-474-3817. Hit 1 then its extension 160.

I wonder if the fact that these unexplained delays are costing many of us promotions and raises would be a viable basis for a class action lawsuit.

Looks like they are up to license number 127574 and there were 34 licenses that have issue dates of today. I hope they start moving, all my information went to the board on 4/16 so I'm so close!

They are still on 4/3 for board review as of 430est. At least licenses for those that are approved are getting issued. I have been at 10 days away for at least a week now for approval. So irrtating. I thought I would be approved this week. Wednesday is a holiday so Im sure nothing is getting done the next two days.

Just a heads up for all the newly licensed NYS CPAs. You are exempt from CPE for your first registration period.
CPE requirements do not start until the first year or your 2nd registration period.
I personally would still recommend you obtain CPE for your own benefit, just thought I would share this “loophole”.

When do newly licensed CPAs begin taking continuing education?

Newly licensed NY State CPAs become subject to the continuing education requirements on the January 1st immediately following the last day of their initial registration period. The requirements apply to the first full calendar-year in their second registration period.

For those that sat for the exam with only 120 credits, just dug up an old email regarding my initial evaluation from Nasba:
” When you have passed the exam, your file will not be sent to NYS until you have submitted additional transcripts to document you meet the licensure requirements.”
This was from 2 years ago but I guess I have to send my latest transcript to Nasba before they even send the scores.

@Nate- I am on the same boat. I sent my transcripts to NASBA last week for additional evaluation. Anyone know if we are suppose to get any email notifications regarding the status of it or we have to call??
