It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that’s changed? Thanks!

It seems like not alot of people applied for licensure during busy season. Is that why they are moving much quicker now through applications?

They are currently about 14 weeks behind, which is consistent with the past few months.

    12th was a Friday, 16th is a Tuesday.
While it is progress, it's not as much progress as appears at first glance.

Joining this thread because I just recently moved to New York and am flabbergasted at how long it is taking and how difficult the process has been.

I moved from Arizona, where I am a licensed CPA. New York requires four years post license experience for licensure by endorsement (which I don't have) so I had to apply for an initial license and they had to re-verify my stuff that Arizona already did. Well the experience became a HUGE headache, because I worked as a controller at a non-profit for a few years but my supervisor during that time was a CPA, but licensed in California, not Arizona. Initially, based on the interpretation of the experience verification form, we thought she couldn't certify my experience. I tried self-verifying but that didn't work, then I tried using my internships and 9 months as an auditor and was ONE AND A HALF WEEKS shy of a year of experience. Then had to go round and round figuring out if my previous supervisor could sign off on my form (we finally determined she could but boy was that a headache).

I finally called yesterday to see if everything had been processed and they said yes, my application had been passed on to the board and it was currently taking some professions 10-12 weeks and I lost my cookies!! I thought I was in the final stages! Now to wait more!!! I moved across the country for a new job, accepting slightly less than what I was making because there is a nice raise involved when I get my NY license. Didn't realize it'd take so freaking long though…… NY is such a headache of a state.

I just emailed them because I feel like they are close to my application (they received it 1/25/18) and got this reply:

“Thank you for contacting the NYS Board for Public Accountancy. This automatic reply is confirmation that we have received your inquiry.
Please be advised that, unfortunately, the Board office is understaffed and backlogged and our response may take longer. Please do not resubmit requests.
We are not able to provide status updates due to the high volume of applications. You will be contacted if there is a deficiency in your application materials.”

I had emailed them on Apr 11 to get an update, so this message is new.

@Recked – how did you get licensed so quickly? I had also already gone through the review process, but I still am waiting.

    15 year pathway.
Original application went in first week of April 2017, review took 20+ weeks.
I feel like application was overnight around April 5th-7th, check was cashed maybe April 13th.
Received approval to sit for the exam on August 28th 2017.

Long story short, I already had the long wait in 2017.

I was told they are approximately on 1/23. On a side note, I forgot to send in my updated 150 credit hour transcript until after I passed my exams and it has been close to a month now since NASBA received it and they still have not finished evaluating and sending it to the board yet. I last emailed the state coordinator over a week ago and they still haven't gotten back to me and I'm really not sure what to do at this point. Is it normal for them to take a month to evaluate a transcript to send to the state board?

“Everything was received and your application was forwarded to the CPA Board for review on 5/3/18. They’re currently taking 8-12 weeks.”
I received this email yesterday from OPUNIT3@nysed.gov e-mail.

Just a heads up for those seeking the latest time estimates.

Hopefully I am licensed before summer ends!

I'll update if I hear anything more.

With that being said I am grateful for the Ninja community and study guides. I believe they are the most cost efficient and straight-to-the point material out there!
