I emailed this question to the NY state board but they are backlogged so any help is appreciated. I found out I am done with the exam yesterday but this has me freaking out all day.
I work in NYC in industry under a CPA who is licensed in Pennsylvania. NY state education department has the following on the license application for the person verifying experience:
“A certified public accountant licensed in one of the U.S. jurisdictions who is properly licensed and registered or authorized to practice in the jurisdiction of their principal place of business. If a CPA supervisor was not properly licensed or registered or authorized to practice in the state where they practiced, the experience cannot be accepted. The CPA must have acted in a supervisory capacity to the applicant in the same employing organization.”
Since my supervisor is not licensed in NY which is the primary place of business, that means that the supervisor can’t sign off on my experience unless they get a NY license?
Thanks
