This is for anyone in North Carolina or even anywhere else that had their exam application denied. I was denied because they didn’t accept 2 of my MBA accounting courses. Is it even worth contesting? I’m going to contest either way, but wondering if anyone ever contested a denial, in NC or elsewhere, and won?

What classes constitute for the 6 hrs of accounting principles? I had to take an Intro to Managerial Accounting and an Into to Financial Accounting just as a business major as any other business student regardless of whether or not I majored in Accounting. Once I got those two classes out of the way I had to take 3 financial accounting classes (10 hrs), two cost management classes (7 hrs), 1 tax(3rs), 1 auditing(3hrs), 1 accounting and information systems(3hrs) and 1 business law class (3). Should the two intro classes be considered principle classes…I'm hoping I get credit for the two intro classes because one of the financial accounting class and cost management class once I was a upperclassman are called financial accounting 1 and the other cost management 1 but were much more in depth then the two intro classes.

@cullinaa, it's hard to say for sure. From what I can tell, you at least have 18 hours:

6 Principles (between the intro classes and 3 additional financial accounting classes)

    3 Tax

    3 Auditing

    3 Accounting & Information Systems

    3 Business Law

The two cost management systems may be considered principles if they say intro, beginning, or something to that affect. I had a Cost Management Systems class in my MBA program and it was considered principles because it covered information that provides a basic understanding of cost management systems for MBA students. Then again it could have been considered overlap with Intermediate or Managerial.

Without knowing what the 10 hours in financial accounting classes are called I can't say whether they will be accepted. If they are Intermediate Accounting I, Intermediate Accounting II, or something to that affect, it should be accepted.

So, if the cost management systems are accepted you have 25 hours. If the 10 hours of financial accounting are also accepted, you have 35. So you have a 5 credit buffer for something to not be accepted and still get to test. It could be that you end up under 30 as well.

Only way to know for sure is to apply, unfortunately!

I'm also 18 credits short of the 150 requirement. It looks like the FEMA loophole is closed. Are there any other quick options to pick up easy credit?

@ nclynch … yeah I'll be sending in my application next week so hopefully they count it. If I send a check along with my application for the initial fee and 1st section and the my credits get denied is any of that refunded?

If your app is denied, all fees are refunded. can appeal denial. just write a letter and include documents that support your argument.
