Hello Everyone!
Kind of need advice if possible. Ive been a lurker for some time and decided to join Another71 today. Well heres my story.
I graduated in 2016 with a BA in Health Science. I was initially supposed to graduate in 2014 but life got in the way in addition to me switching my major (stupidly from HS to econ then back to HS again). Anyway, while in school I had a job in construction accounting. So that’s where my experience in accounting began. After graduating undergrad, I moved back to my home town and got another job in accounting, this time as a staff accountant at a non profit. I learned so much, and it peaked my interest into obtaining my CPA license. After about a year or so of living with my parents I decided to begin applying to jobs. I was able to get a job in DC ( I went to school there). The position pays well and I feel like it is good experience and its with a pretty decently ranked public accounting firm.
My question is what would the best route to take be in terms of obtaining my CPA license in DC? I think the CPA with the experience with the accounting firm I work for now would set me up pretty nicely. I’ve began taking courses at the community college in maryland. 9 credits. I was thinking I could take the required courses and take the exams then maybe obtain an MBA or MACC after.
Also I’ve looked at the requirements for the DC CPA exam…does anyone know what is meant by “accounting concentration”?
I’m a little confused on what exactly to do because I don’t necessarily know any accounting non trads. PLEASE HELP 🙁
