Hey. NJ board just emailed me that they don’t accept UNA classes as accounting credits any more. I have passed all 4 exams. It’s frustrating that I have to spend longer time to fulfill the education requirements. They keep changing the policies, so I have to take same classes again and again.

Do they accept LSU ODL or UCLA Extension courses? You could try them. Sorry to hear that you have to redo the courses. That's incredibly frustrating.

Do you know any state accept the UNA classes? I actually transferred from NY to NJ, because NY doesn't accept UNA classes. I'm afraid more states will change their policies and reject UNA credits. They definitely don't want UNA to stay in the business.

This is EXTREMELY frustrating. I really am afraid more states with change their policies as well. Good idea to look at other states to transfer to. So the email just said they are “no longer accepting the credits”?!

I wondered what happened if you passed the exams with credits which are now disallowed i.e. UNA CPA PP. On the NYS CPA licensing website, it seems that if the course material for a class is “CPA review material” i.e. Wiley, Bisk etc. it cannot count towards accounting credits (but in NY, counts as business credits).

I ran into the same issue early on, after completing a course a half. For those in New York, I ended up using LSU (2 classes), Bryant & Stratton online (3 classes), & Capella (1 class), and the rest I had from my bachelor's degree. I'm fortunate that I was able to find the courses and take them simultaneously or back to back, but it's definitely not easy to find the appropriate courses/schedule depending on what you have taken to avoid duplicates. LSU is good because it's self-paced, but the grading can take a while sometimes. Bryant & Stratton classes are only 7 weeks, and I just needed credits and had my upper-level requirements satisfied so I took lower level classes. Of course at the end of the day, the Board doesn't let you know what is acceptable until you apply but thus far, all have been accepted.
