Decided to start this Group for eveyrone that MUST PASS in 2013!!!…especially if you are a California CA CPA Candidate. The rules change in 2014 for California Candidates!!! You will have to gain further academic requirements before you can apply for CPA licensure in 2014.
Here’s the great kicker…If you pass the CPA exams….ALL 4 exams by 2013…You get a 2-year grace period till 2015.
All you folks that want, need, have to pass in 2013,,,,,This Group is for you!!!
What can you do better, more efficiently, and faster to guarantee you pass????…
Gee, this Group could be for everyone.
No excuses!!!! You will pass…!! What can you do to guarantee your success? Give it some thought and post for all the rest.

Same boat…But failed REG already so I pretty much just gave up on passing this year …I went thru my transcripts again (the day I found out I failed my first exam) and turns out I just need 5 additional acct semester units to qualify for the new 2014 law…that made me very happy π I actually already registered at a community college for that one class I need, will be taking it online (I have kids)
Check your transcripts everyone, I actually thought I needed more classes but turns out I don't
Also make sure your ethics courses are exact to title …you can add to the title but cannot take from the title
example :
This would NOT count : Business leadership vs studies in leadership
This WILL count : Organizational behavior vs organizational behavior & management
We all have the ability to be whomever we want to be in this life. It's just a matter of DETERMINATION, PERSISTENCE, PATIENCE and the WILL to follow through. Never give up!

I'm CA too.
I'm already trying for pathway 2; I planned on that pathway years ago because my boss is not a licensed CPA so the 1 year of experience is a lot easier to get; especially if i cant afford to quit my job and have to get a part time job on the weekends to fill this requirement. So am very thankful they aren't making me get 2 years of experience.
I went for my MBA inFinance. so am not too worried about the 150 semester hours. But the new specific requirements have me worried that I'll have to take more classes. I doubt that I'm lacking accounting or business subjects; since I was already accepted into pathway 2. It's the ethics portion I'm worried about. I think I took at least 3 classes but if they are only worth 3 credit hours that'll leave me with 1 semester hour missing. I also worry because I may have taken Organizational Behavior twice (once in Bachelors and in Masters). I am not sure how they are titled in my transcripts and/of if the CBA will dismiss one. So I may have to take at least 2 more classes.
On top of having to pass these 4 exams – urgh….

A - 32, 61, 70, 83!
R - 33, 58, 73, 69, 81!
F - 47, 78! π
After 3 long years, I'm finally DONE!

I actually have no idea how many credits I have…but I assume they are around 130 maybe 140. I added on an HR minor for a while to even out the load until I found out my counselor failed to tell me there are three classes that are preqs to one another so I'd have to stay in school for at least another 2 years at that point. Also, thanks to our wonderfully impacted schools in California I had to stretch my last year of courses over 2 semesters, so in order to keep my financial aid full-time status I took a couple extra courses.
So I have to pay my old college for my transcript because there is absolutely nothing they keep on file for free for you…weak. I wish I would have written it down. I'm putting it off because I don't want to think about going back to school and really trying to focus on the now and passing these things!
If the new law does pass, I will feel sort of bad for some of my colleagues who passed early and already have enrolled and taken courses to meet the req's. One of them paid $1,500 for online classes at a community college….ouch.
The good news is, as mentioned above, they are pretty lenient on the subject courses – there is a really great worksheet on the CBA site which tells you what qualifies and doesn't. If you went to a school and specially graduated with a concentration in accountancy, you are probably fine.

I tell him all the time that he is being silly but he is all worried about how old he will be when the kid graduates. Plus I want 3 kids with at least 2 years between the kids if not 3 years (I may settle for just two children-no idea considering I have none at the moment). And no, I live in Tennessee. And no, we are not hillbillies. lol I think we are at a great age for having children. You seem to be dissing me (maybe I'm reading it wrong) so I just wanted to clear it up that it is my husband and not I who thinks he is getting too old. I would not have wanted to start any sooner.

You can email them and ask them …mostly likely they will give you credit for both because I have taken accounting II, 3 times just for the credit units and they are taking all three towards my accounting requirement
They are really helpful and nice, I always bug them with all sort of questions and I get a response within 24hrs

August 29, 2013 at 4:59 am #468223iputaspellonfarParticipantI thought the amendment for the grace period is proposed but not passed yet. I am in the same boat and hoping it does pass but I don't believe it's finalized yet.

I just had a baby (well, not me…) and I'm uh … 30-something.
I think I've had 3 kids since age 29. I've lost count π

August 29, 2013 at 3:04 pm #468293littlenumberrobotMember@KelzMS – when my boyfriend and I started dating he told me he wanted kids by age 30. Well I am two years younger than him we are 25&27 now, So I keep asking him (jokingly) where's my ring? We are NOT on schedule for that timeline… he agrees now. I hope we get to kids by me 30 and him 32. Your husband is not old!
