So here’s my situation: I’m almost done with my CPA exam journey and MD requires an ACTIVE (what the form actually says) CPA to sign-off on my experience requirement. My problem is that both my bosses have let their’s lapse and there are no other CPAs on staff, except for someone else who was just licensed. Have any other Marylanders had any experience with submitting their accounting experience form? Do they really have to be ACTIVE? Does it matter how long they’ve been a CPA? I’ve been trying to call the state board so that i can ask annonymously but i have had no luck recently. Now I will be leaving the company once I pass my last exam but i just wanted to be licensed and done instead of trying to find an industry (don’t want to do public) company that has an active CPA on staff.
Also for anyone else who looks at this, have you or someone you know had any experience looking for a job to get that experience? Did you still get the salary you wanted? Were you passed up because you weren’t licensed?
Thanks for the help!
