Hi all Maryland CPA’s,

I am reaching out to you all because I figure some of you may be going through the same problem with obtaining your wall certificate. I passed the exam about a year ago and still have yet to receive my wall certificate. I have contacted the DLLR and spoken to several people, but the only response I get is that the certificate is “being redesigned and we do not know how long the process will take but it will be mailed to you”. I have been pretty patient as it took me less time to pass the exam than it has to get this piece of paper! Anyone else going through the same or has gotten their certificate since passing the exam sometime in 2015-2016? Thanks for any insight.

I'm from the DC area, trying to get licensed in Virginia, and the amount of time it's taking Idaho to send the Virginia Board of Accountancy the scores is driving me crazy. I made my request last Monday, and I am just really anxious, nervous cause I want to get it done before I move in May-June.

I am in the same boat. I periodically send in an email asking about the status of the redesign. I also have checked the minutes of the monthly board meetings which have no mention of a pending redesign or any indication that it is being worked on. Why a CPA wall certificate redesign would take over a year is beyond me, let alone why a redesign would be needed at all in the first place. Also, I think it would make more sense to keep sending out the “old” design to people until the new one is complete. I just want my wall certificate.

Just got a new response from the board, the redesign has been completed! However, the printer in now broken. Once they get a new printer we will be getting our wall certificates. The person I emailed at the board was very helpful and apologetic.

a little bird just told me the printer has arrived, IT will setup, and certifcate paper should arrive on Friday….then production will start and mailings will occur.
please post when you receive your certificate.

Glad to see someone finally received their wall certificate! Also, this thread is ridiculous. The one-excuse-after-another that's gone on… My apologies to those of you who have been caught in the middle. Hopefully the re-designed certificate was worth the wait, MDgolfCPA!

Wall certificate is obtained after clearing all the exams, gaining required work exp & also after getting licensed right ?

I am very excited to finally have it. Almost a full eight months since I was licensed. I'm sure they have quite the backlog. Many people have been waiting over a year.

As for the redesign, don't know what to say, it looks like a CPA wall certificate, nothing earth shattering.

@user2701 Yes, you get the wall certificate after you are fully licensed.
