    Hello,

I have some questions regarding the 150 credit rule.

    Facts:

I have an undergraduate degree in accounting and 125 undergraduate credits

I have all of the required accounting and business credits required by MA

I have enough work experiance/audit hours

I have passed the CPA exam.

I simply need to get 25 more credits to meet the 150 credit requirment. Can these credits be community college credits? I will not transfer the community college credits to a degree program, just send my transcript from the CC to NASBA. Can I take the LSU distance learning classes?

Has anyone else from MA had to pick up these additional credits? If so, how have you done it?

Double check with the board of course but I'm almost certain you can. The only time you NEED a masters in MA is if you're going for a non reporting license (no experience required for that, which you already have). Not sure how the tuition compares but you can do online classes at SNHU as well.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

You should check out the course requirements on NASBA's website here:

    https://www.nasba.org/exams/cpaexam/massachusetts/

Per what it says there, I'm not so sure that you can take classes at a community college. It seems LSU would be a good option. I took classes at a community college, but had them transferred before I graduated.

I'm thinking CC courses don't count too. Unless you transfer them like you did.

I am trying to figure out if the LSU distance learning is a correspondence course. If so, that would not count as well.

Anyone use these LSU courses for MA 150? They seem to be pretty poplular on the board

As long as you take LSU courses that are for academic credit (it shouldn't matter what subjects they are) you should be fine. Those would fall under “online courses” and should be perfectly acceptable because they are taken through an accredited university. I would try to check with NASBA, though I don't know how helpful they'll be.
