Section 4 (3) : https://www.lrc.ky.gov/kar/201/001/190.htm
(3)(a) Effective January 1, 2015, an applicant shall not receive credit toward satisfying the education requirements in KRS 325.261 and this administrative regulation for any credit hours awarded through a life assessment course or for DSST credit.
(b) Effective January 1, 2015, an applicant who received CLEP credit, or credit hours from a college or university for completing an internship or co-op program may use a maximum of six (6) of those hours from each program for a total of twelve (12) hours solely toward satisfying the 150 hour requirement in KRS 325.261(5).
I was looking at the KY state board’s website to verify something related to CPE and saw a note that they’d changed some legislation related to CLEP and DSST credit, so looked it up…and wow. KY is generally a more generous state board for all things CPA-license-related, so this was a shock to me. Thought I’d share it here for anyone who was thinking about taking CLEPs or DSSTs or any similar tests for a substantial portion of their credits, just as a heads-up that at least some state boards are restricting them. I had way more than 6 credits of CLEPs, and several DSSTs, so glad that I sat prior to January 1, 2015!
Also…I personally thought DSSTs were harder than CLEPs, so surprised they accept CLEPs but not DSSTs!
