Does anyone know if Indiana takes into account actual hours worked instead of calendar years when counting the two yrs work requirement? I ask because I will have well over the standard amount of hrs for a 2 yr 40 hr a week job by the end of this tax season but won’t have 24 months of experience until mid august. I worked a tax season as an intern then went back to grad school to complete my 150. I then started with a new firm last January and have been with them since. I passed my exams recently and starting filling out the necessary paperwork to realize Indiana goes by dates not by hrs on the application (I know KY goes by hrs).

I know it is just a few months difference, but I have already received a job offer from a former classmate who knew about me passing the exams. I don’t necessarily want to leave my current job, but it would be nice to know I would have the freedom of an official CPA certification behind my name come April.

It looks pretty clear in their laws and regs that it's based on 24 months of full-time work, with full-time being defined as at least 40 hours of work per week. (Although they will look at hours for calculating part-time equivalencies.) But you could always call and ask, or you may hear here of actual practice being different than the letter of the law.

I don't suppose you got a doctorate when you went to grad school? You get 12 months of work experience credit for a doctorate in IN.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)
