I'm in FL and need a second business law course which must be upper level

Has anyone had any experience with the FL State Board? I recently moved to FL and they require two business law courses one which must be upper level. They also have a duplicity rule informing that they will not accept the course if its similar to a prior course even if its upper level and the prior is a lower level course. I have already take Legal Environment of Business, but need a second upper level course. I would prefer an online self paced type of course does anyone have any suggestions?

Also getting information out of the FL State Board is pretty much out of the question, they are making it more difficult than it needs to be.

Thanks for the help in advance!

    Russell

Hey I'm in FL and recently had a similar situation where I needed an AIS class. (I went to school in AL and the accounting program didn't have AIS.)

As soon as the Board told me of my deficiency I signed up with Univ of Phoenix. They typically start a new semester each week and the classes last 5-6 weeks. So in about two months I cleared up my missing class meanwhile studying for BEC. When the Board have me the all clear, I was ready to take the exam. Hope this helps!

Florida candidate here, I was in the same boat as you. My undergraduate had “Legal and Ethical Environment of Business” as my business law course, so I needed another B.Law. The undergraduate was equivalent to “Business Law I.” I took “Business Law II” (a 2000-level course) and it satisfied the second course requirement for B.Law. See if your local community college offers it. I took it online. Good luck!

Awesome thanks both of your replies.

@ Birds CPA so even though BLAW II was a 2000 level they still accepted it? I took the same class as you “Legal Environment of Business for my first one, I was just concerned about the duplicity rule. This is perfect I have found a few BLAW II classes that are at the 2000 level, but thought the board would say that they weren't upper level.

    Thanks for your help!

I'm in Florida and took Business Law II at UNF. It is almost always a Saturday course which was perfect for me. The cost of the online classes versus the state school wasn't worth it for me, but the convenience of not having to go to campus would have been great.

@russell630, yes, even though it is 2000 level it was ok. I contacted the Florida Board of Accountancy and wouldn't hang up until they verified and they did say it was okay before I took it. When I completed the course I was obviously accepted to sit since I have already taken 2 exams, ha.
