I’m just curious if anyone else out there is currently awaiting their license or endured the long wait recently. I think it has felt just as terrible as waiting for my scores.

7/14/16: Sat for my last exam – BEC
    7/15/16: Passed Ethics exam
8/4/16: Received final passing score – BEC
8/24/16: Received certificate via email from ILBOE
9/12/16: Mailed license application to IDFPR
9/16/16: IDFPR cashed check for license
11/4/16: Called IDFPR; I was told they were currently working on applications from 8/31/16 and to call back in 2-3 weeks
12/2/16: Called IDFPR; I was told they are currently working on applications from the date I applied. They said it’d be another 4-6 weeks if there is nothing wrong with my application. If there is anything wrong with it, I’ll receive a deficiency letter in the mail.

It’s been 11 weeks since they received my application. I’m not legally allowed to hold myself out as a CPA until they issue my license. Are all states this slow? I’m so happy to be done with these tests, but it means nothing to my employer without those 3 letters behind my name.

I'm never studying for anything ever again!

Yes. Its a slow process. I sent in my license application. Then it had to go to final review, then they send you the license fee form, then that takes forever to process payment, and then they finally issue you the number.

It is a lengthy process. Just keep calling your state board regularly to check on the process. I got my number issued to me today via email. They said that it'll be 3-4 weeks before I receive anything in the mail and before it'll show on their website. So I highly recommend checking in with your state board regularly.

I'm totally with you! Actually the exact same boat. I am looking for new work, but “passed the exams” doesn't have the same spark as CPA. They really need to hire a few more people. In my opinion, not even looking at an application until 9 weeks after its been received is just way too long. I will die if I did something wrong and have to start this BS over again. see my timeline below.

    Sat for FAR 2/27/2016
    Sat for REG 4/30/2016
    Sat for AUD 7/2/2016
    Sat for BEC 8/27/2016
9/7/2016 – Completed Ethic Exam (Had to Call)
9/9/2016 – BEC (Last Test) Results
    9/12/2016 – Certificate # Received (107062)
10/4/2016 – Sent Licensure Paperwork to ILDHR
10/6/2016 – Delivered to ILDHR – Sent Priority
    10/11/2016 – Check Cashed
    License Number Received ?

@BHARP33, sorry that you are also enduring this painful wait in Illinois. They really should hire additional staff, but understaffing appears to be an issue across many agencies in IL, and I don't think that's going to change anytime soon.

I will update when I finally receive my license. Hopefully, that'll give others an idea of what to expect when they're going through this.

@sarah I'm in CA but have had the same timeline as you. I got my final passing score on 8/4 and had all other requirements met, sent in my application to the state board almost immediately after passing, and still have not received my license number. Everything for me has been cleared with the board and I sent in my initial licensing payment, but they still have not processed that and issued me a license number. It is quite frustrating now that it has been about 4 months since I sent in my initial application. It takes them 4-6 weeks to open a piece of mail and cash a check, makes me wondering just what the hell is going on at these state boards…

UPDATE: My license was issued today (12/6/16)! I had an 11 1/2 week wait from the day they received my application to the day they issued my license. Good luck to those still testing and those awaiting licensure!
