Anyone else out there waiting for IL scores? I’m waiting on FAR, and a friend is waiting on BEC. Does anyone know how long it takes for the board to post after the AICPA releases? Jeff expects a BEC release from AICPA today. 🙂

soanxious – I feel so bad for you right now, I know how ridicoulous the wait has been for you. Here's some advice:
When it comes to AUD – I feel like it's the easiest test to pass if you prepare yourself right and because you get 5 hours to take it.
1. Re-do all the lectures.
2. Work all the questions after the lectures again.
3. Create and write an outlines for the lecture. In your notes, highlight the pass keys, mnemonics and any other material that may help.
4. Work the simulations.
Repeat 1-4 for every Chapter.
In addition, open a word file, and practice writing reports. RAPMEAM, RAPMEAM – Write it like 4-5 times by heart until you get it right. Then learn the changes to that report for various situations other reports.
You can do this. On test day, TAKE YOUR TIME. USE THE RESEARCH FUNCTION TO HELP YOU! Because you have so much time to finish this exam. Knock out the MC question by question, WORD BY WORD. Then when you get to the SIMs, write an amazing communication and complete the research tab as well. Then do your best on the SIMs tabs, but also leverage the research function to answer reports questions etc.
? AUD - 87 (8/12/09)
? REG - 77 (1/15/10
? BEC - 77 (1/6/09 - Expired) / 79 (11/18/10)
? FAR - 75 (2/11/11)March 25, 2010 at 3:06 pm #270890SoanxiousParticipantglogo2384 – Thanks! Here I go again. I have wrote out Becker's book 3x (guessing). I have wrote all the definitions, made a spreadsheet of all the pneumonics. I made improvement and that was what I was hoping to see if it wasn't a 75. I had a 68 in my head as an alternative if I didn't pass, and I came close. I will take your advise and work out a plan after I burn off all this emotion and can think straight. This so sucks. Two and half years of my life and all I want is to see a pass on that screen.

March 25, 2010 at 3:12 pm #270891AARONParticipantI would block all 3 other exams out of your mind, focus on 1 for now, shoot to take it before the end of April, maybe shoot to re-take AUD by 4/15 or so, then study for REG from 4-16-5-16 and take REG on 5-17.

I was just kicking around in my head if I did AUD retake first I could use that week for AUD. I only have until 5/12 for REG, but I have been studying it. I flipped a few weeks ago when I ran the hours for FAR & REG and went back to REG. I have done everything for REG but 1/2 of tax and all of corporate. I felt so far behind in FAR I had more time to sit for REG the first week or the second week in April and then take far by 5/31. So now that have a score finally I can replan again. This sucks so bad!

March 25, 2010 at 4:47 pm #270893Jimmy32198ParticipantHey Soanxious:
I remember feeling the most unprepared the day before the Audit exam than I did for any of the other sections. Then, for the first time I actually decided to print and look over the notes included with the Becker Lecture CDs. I just went through Those 30 pgs of condensed notes and made sure to memorize anything the notes say to memorize…….After continually repeating this I felt a lot more prepared and I actually thought a lot of the questions on the exam were in the notes.

I am so sorry to hear that. I really hope you could pass this time. Especially you have wait that long. It's unfair for you.
Anyway, analysis the score report and adjust you study plan, do the MC as much as possible. You will pass it next time:)

March 25, 2010 at 5:45 pm #270897KatieLouWhoParticipantI have a study suggestion…. If you've never done a VARK analysis, I suggest it. https://www.vark-learn.com/english/page.asp?p=questionnaire It helps you determine how you learn (Visual, Aural/Audio, Read/Write, Kinesthitic). I would suggest focusing your studying on the way you learn best. For example, my weakest learning preference is Aural – so I don't waste a lot of time listening to lectures, when I won't absorb much from it. I'm strong in “R” and “K”, so I read lectures, wrote down key points, and worked problems (not really applicable for AUD though).
I just wanted to throw this out there. A professor in grad school had us do the analysis and I wish I had done it earlier in my college career. Good luck to everyone!!!

March 25, 2010 at 5:48 pm #270898AFriedsParticipantWell I don't know how other people learn.. but I need to repeat a million times and im a bad test taker so i did all mq's 3 times at least including supplemental (becker) did ALL final exams and like 6 progress tests. outlined all the chapters made notecards and studied those for at least an hour a day different chapters each day. did all sims twice as well. ANY topic i didnt understand fully I researched or looked up in old text books, overkill most likely but it worked for all of them it really did, i had NO life when i studied i mean i would go at it like 10-12 hours a day even 14 on some days…
March 25, 2010 at 6:04 pm #270899LHO328Participant81 I passed, CPA is done!
March 25, 2010 at 6:07 pm #270900tmccarronParticipant88 pass for AUD. i knew i did well leaving though so i wasnt that stressed about that delay. goes to show that late releases have nothing to do with fringe scores, as some have mentioned.
for me — the lectures were useless. it was a waste of time. work the questions and write the answer with reasoning as to why each answer is right or wrong until you have the concept memorized.. and even continue writing the same answers beyond that. i have 4 100pg spiral notebooks filled with MC question discussion from, most of which is illegible from me scribbling haha. good luck to all who have sections remaining and dont despair if you did not pass. i am now done
over and out.
March 25, 2010 at 6:13 pm #270901SoanxiousParticipantNYCPAtrying – Thanks for rooting for me! It sucks, but I reapplied. I emailed my boss just a few minutes ago and said April AUD, REG May, FAR July, and BEC AUG. I just wish I new what the heck I was doing wrong.
KatieLouWho – Thanks. I am a visual learner and I have struggled with the methods that they suggest to do because they don't work for me. I have wrote out books, note cards, lectures, read..you name it. I am going to check it out. I am a bad test taker. Mostly do to anxiety. There is so much pressure on me to complete this work, home, friends, $…I just wish in all the time I have tried that I could have gotten one. This is my highest score so all I can do is try again and be glad I have gotten closer. I am leaps away from where I was when I began. I know my work schedule is part of the problem, but quitting isnt an option.
Thanks all for the kind words and advice! And a big Congrats to all that have passed!!!

March 25, 2010 at 11:16 pm #270902SoanxiousParticipantWaiting to be a CPA -I am sorry I missed this ealier. I just got home and looked back to check on you. I am so sorry. I had a knife in my stomach all day after results came out and missed your post. I was popping in and out from work also. I hope you check back and see this. We are both going to tackle this beast so let's both forget the past and look at what we can do to change it! We will get passed this!!!!!!!!!!

March 26, 2010 at 2:19 pm #270903KJKobsParticipantI thankfully passed AUD with an 80. I took advantage of the bonus week in March and I honestly believe paying the reschedule fee and giving myself one additional weekend to study really paid off. Taking an exam while in the middle of tax season was definitely a challenge and I commend everyone who puts in the effort to do so.
I had passed AUD back in July 2008 but lost the credit in January 2010 after my attempt to pass FAR and be all done resulted in a 73 and a lot of heartbreak over the Christmas holiday. I'm relieved to have AUD back in the fold.
Waiting to jump back in FAR study mode until tax season is over, looking at taking FAR at the end of May for which will hopefully be the last exam ever.
Congrats to everyone who passed parts in this window and best of luck to everyone still fighting hard. We can do this!!
