Anyone else out there waiting for IL scores? I’m waiting on FAR, and a friend is waiting on BEC. Does anyone know how long it takes for the board to post after the AICPA releases? Jeff expects a BEC release from AICPA today. 🙂

Misterbum – I reached 9 weeks today. So hard to believe. I have taken 8 exams and only had to wait a few weeks and thought that was bad. I could just scream!
I am buckling down on FAR and trying to stay focused. It is so hard though. I actually had nightmares last night (recurring) of looking at my IL BOE screen and seeing a failing score every time I looked at it. Dreams of pure fear of seeing a failing score I guess you can say. Something only CPA candidates can appreciate. :O)

? AUD - 87 (8/12/09)
? REG - 77 (1/15/10
? BEC - 77 (1/6/09 - Expired) / 79 (11/18/10)
? FAR - 75 (2/11/11)March 10, 2010 at 2:14 am #270636SoanxiousParticipantNo more CPA nightmares tonight! Only dreams of life as a CPA.
We can all think of our lives as CPA's and what comes after the “wait” and the exams! I can't wait to write my name with those three letters behind it knowing what it took to get there.

I wasn't trying to review standards or GAAP while I was sleeping either. If I could only lay the book under my pillow and absorb all that is in there.
I am trying to be more optimistic instead of constantly thinking “Did I fail this thing again” or “I could have done this / that better to be more prepared.”
Stress does funny things to a person. Especially after having to wait forever for a score.

I liked in the last few releases knowing when IL people where getting their scores even though mine wasn't included. It made the waiting a lot easier. Once I knew that it wasn't there I could move on that day (sort of).
I am feeling fried today. I can't concentrate, I am nervous, trying to cram a lot of FAR in my head, and trying to plan timing for these next few tests. All of this seems so difficult without knowing how I did on Audit. I am still on the fence about applying for FAR and I am not sure if I have enough time to study. Too much to think about!
I need my score AICPA – please!!!

March 11, 2010 at 5:43 pm #270641AARONParticipantThe only advice I can give you is this:
For peace of mind purposes, expect the worst, hope for the best. As such, plan under the assumption you've failed… it makes it a lot easier to calm down. I always have a hard time focusing for another test while waiting for a score, but you really need to remind yourself that it's in the past, it's history, you can't go back to the exam, you can't change an answer, you can't think about it, period. Pretend it never happened and move on… and when you get that score and its a passing one, it's 10 time better knowing that you didn't waste energy and time agaonizing over it.
? AUD - 87 (8/12/09)
? REG - 77 (1/15/10
? BEC - 77 (1/6/09 - Expired) / 79 (11/18/10)
? FAR - 75 (2/11/11)March 11, 2010 at 7:21 pm #270642SoanxiousParticipantI thinking I am stressing more about FAR than the AUD score. And I know that no one can answer this for me because I can only know how I feel about it, but I am worried about timing with my REG running out. I have been studying FAR since the beginning of January, but I have forgotten so much over the last few years. I am not sure if I feel ready enough to sit yet (I was shooting for 4/2 or 4/5). If I feel this way in a week or so I am going to have to drop it and go back to REG. I don't want to lose the $200.00 I paid in fees to sit for REG, but…If I can pull it off I really would like to stick to my plan (FAR in April / REG in May). I was planning for work this morning and it raised the stress level. Plus I work / travel 60 hours a week so that is a big factor for me to over come when trying to studying this many hours. Just plain too much going on right now.
Good advice though for this awful wait for AUD though. As of now I would do a retake either in April (before REG or May after REG) or August if I had to resit. I am comfortable with that part of my plan (except for blowing off FAR for a few months). I really just need to find some magical way to make me remember all that I have forgotten while I was putting my time into AUD over the last few years. That would help solve my problem.

March 11, 2010 at 7:52 pm #270643AARONParticipantHere's my advice based on what you've explained above. I'm assuming you haven't passed any section yet right?
Based on my experiences and MY OPINION so far:
1. FAR is the hardest test because there's a lot of information to cover… and the test is also tricky etc.
2. REG is the second hardest test because of all the rules and combination of b-law and tax.
3. BEC is the hardest test to pass on the first try because there is little margin for error given the nature of the exam (only 90MC of which 70 or so count versus everyone else).
4. AUD is the easiest to pass given the nature of the exam and the amount of time given to take the exam (5 Hours).
SO, here's what I think given that you're so hung up on your AUD score.
1. Block everything out, including your AUD score. You NEED to do this, You NEED to focus on #2.
2. Focus and study for FAR! You can do this. You've started, so don't stop, pretend this is your first test. Plan to take it by April 16th, it's a Friday.
3. You'll receive your AUD score in less than 2-weeks. If you pass, awesome! 1 down! If not, don't panic, focus on FAR!
4. If you passed AUD, take FAR, then spend April 19th – May 30th studying for REG. Take REG on May 31st (or some day at the end of the window that works for you. If you failed AUD, spend that time to re-take AUD at the end of the window.
5. Focus only on two tests next window… don't worry about the other 2 after these two. Then come up for a plan for the remaining (BEC and/or REG, if necessary)…
Hope that helps.
? AUD - 87 (8/12/09)
? REG - 77 (1/15/10
? BEC - 77 (1/6/09 - Expired) / 79 (11/18/10)
? FAR - 75 (2/11/11)March 11, 2010 at 7:56 pm #270644AARONParticipantJust noticed your comment about REG… shoot to take REG in May regardless if you passed or failed audit. If you failed AUD, just take it in July, you'll be fine.
? AUD - 87 (8/12/09)
? REG - 77 (1/15/10
? BEC - 77 (1/6/09 - Expired) / 79 (11/18/10)
? FAR - 75 (2/11/11)March 11, 2010 at 8:46 pm #270645SoanxiousParticipantglogo2384 -Thanks! It helps to hear another candidate's opinion. I have sat for all four sections and passed none. The good thing about not being a beginner at sitting for for the first time is I know what to expect (despite any new changes). I originally sat in '07. I applied for all four at the same time so I did them in less then 6 months. I can't even begin to count them because the study attempt was not near what I know now that I have to do to even come close to passing. I didn't know. I took Becker on-line at that time and don't work with anyone that hasn't had their CPA for less than 20 years. So after a lot of investingating of what not to do when you take your CPA Exam, which was just about everything I was doing I tried again in 11/09. I have to say the last two attempts (11/09 & 1/10) were my first real attempts (however my 11/09 try was a mess). Out of all my scores FAR was the lowest (all others were within two points of each other), but I see why it was the lowest now that I am studying it again. I don't think I studied the first time near to the level that I needed to for it back in '07. While studying now I remember more than I thought I would and have done better on practice questions than I thought I would, but not to the point that I think it is enough. Being so unsuccessful at something doesn't help with the nerves.
I laid out a study plan with the FAR / REG plan like you mentioned and I think I can do it. Although the last day I can sit for REG is 5/12 so I would have to shift everything up a few weeks. I did study for about 1 1/2 months at the end of last year for REG while I was waiting for my 11/09 audit score, but dropped it when I found out I needed to do AUD again. At least it won't be all new information if I had to cut it close (plus I have studied it before). I have already passed the Ethics course (93 the first try on that one) so that part of REG is a refresher and so is the SOX portion. I do really well with corporate anything because I am more familiar with it. I the have time to take off of work, but I usually can only do about 7 business days off before the test, and a day here & there if need be. I am going to keep reading your “You NEED to do this, You NEED to focus on #2”, good inspiration to stay on track and not get distracted.
Thanks again for the help!
