    How much time does it normally take IDFPR to process a license application? I’m an international candidate (don’t have a SSN) so I wasn’t able to apply online to become a Registered CPA. Last time I checked with IDFPR, they received my paper application on April 27 and it would take 4-6 weeks to process my application. In order to get an update on my application, I tried for the last couple of days to call by phone (2177828556) and e-mail FPR.PRFGROUP01@illinois.gov and I wasn’t able to get any response.

    Never mind. I've checked the IDFPR website again and now I'm officially a CPA!

    congrats!! i was just licensed in may as well 🙂

    to clarify your post, in the state of illinois, you MUST register with the department of financial regulation before you are legally able to hold yourself out to the public as a cpa (yes, that even includes using the initials “cpa” after you name). the board of examiners sends exam scores for all candidates that have passed all four sections and passed the ethics course to the department of financial regulation twice a month. once the department of financial regulation has the scores, you will be able to apply for registration online. if they have not received your scores yet, your application will stop at the stage where you enter your social, last name and first two letters of your first name. if they have received your scores, you can move forward with paying the fee and they will give you a registration number on the spot, so it's pretty seamless.

    What is my best course of action to get in before the 6/30/12 deadline? i am taking what i hope is my last section next Wednesday. Scores should be released around june 7th. How can i ensure that i get that registered designation before the two tier system expires at the end of June?

    @jterp1985 Thanks it's been a tough journey for me but I finally did it!

    @ppierce I'm sorry to tell you that you can't meet June 30th deadline. IBOE won't submit your scores to IDPFR before issuing your certificate (most likely it will take more than two weeks). The updates would then be sent to IDFPR every 15 and 30th day of the month then they would take a few days to enter it into their system before you are able to register. I hope I'm wrong though, but you probably need to check it out with both IDFPR and IBOE. The Good news is that the experience requirements required to get a normal license are much easier than other states and you might have already met them (not required in public accounting, can be in the industry, doesn't have to be verified by a CPA…).

    but IBOE is responsible for issuing the certification not IDFPR. IDFPR issues liscenses.

    @ppierce Congrats on the iPad!

    I might have not phrased my sentence properly but it's still the same situation. IBOE will issue your certificate THEN send the information to IDFPR and only then will you be able to register. Unfortunately this process will take time and I seriously doubt that there are exceptions.

    @LongJourney congrats on officially being a CPA!

    @ppierce
    congrats on winning the iPad!

    I think @LongJourney is correct. The Illinois system takes forever. There is another thread on this forum which goes through the pain of waiting. Please see link below:

    https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/illinois-applying-for-rcpa-online-vs-paper

    I just found out my final score in the last score release, so I am hoping they will issue a certificate to me ASAP and then transmit the data to IDFPR by the June 30 deadline. I am quite concerned I will not meet the deadline though. I would imagine if you have to wait until June 7 to receive your score, you will be sweating the deadline even more. From the previous thread it looks like it is taking a month plus from score release to IDFPR having your certificate info so you can register as a CPA. It looks like what has helped is if you already have your ethics requirement done. It seems to speed up the process. Fingers crossed that processing times are faster due to the deadline coming up!

    I took my last section, REG on 2/23. I got my score 3/8. FINALLY got my certificate # on 3/29, but I was able to see it online on 3/30. I asked them to send it to IDFPR on 3/30. On 4/17 I was finally able to register online and be licensed the same day as a RCPA. Almost two months from last section to RCPA initial licensure.

    If you're only now getting your score, I don't think you'll make it on time to be licensed as an RCPA. But at least you'll be certified.

    And you can always go for the full CPA license when you get 1 year experience.

    @ppierce

    YOU CAN STILL GET REGISTERED BEFORE 6/30/12!!

    I've been contacting back and forth with the director of ilboa. ILBOA is going to send over your scores to IDFPR 4 times in June. You may not be able to register ONLINE on the IDFPR website, but you can still send in an PAPER APPLICATION to IDFPR POSTMARKED by June 30, 2012.

    The main thing to do: make sure you've finished your Ethics exam ASAP. Then, if you go online on like June 15th, you will hopefully have a CERTIFICATE # on the ILBOA website. That is an indication that they've sent your ifnromation to IDFPR. Then, you should be able to mail in all your RCPA paperwork!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

    I was definitely stressing out a lot about this for the past month b/c I took my last exam May 15th and found out my score on May 23rd. I got my certificate # on May 29th. Very quick turnaround. IDFPR should upload all my information within 3 weeks I hope (based on friend's infromation), but if I still can't register via online application by June 25th, I'm mailing in the paper application 🙂

    Done!!!

    @everyone, ILBOA and IDFPR know that there are a lot of people worried about this, that's why ILBOA will be sending scores to IDFPR 4 times for June (rather than the normal 2 times). The paper application will be the way to go for you.

    https://www.idfpr.com/renewals/apply/forms/rcpa.pdf

    You will be doing the “Acceptance of Examination”, not “Endorsement” or “Restoration”. You shouldn't need to do the “CT” supplmentary form (the last 2 pages).

    Read through, fill out, send to IDFPR before June 30th.

    Why not do it online? If ILDPR has received your information then you can get your license # right away.

    FYI –

    I received my score for my last exam last release (5/23). I completed the Ethics exam before I took my final exam.

    I received my certification number through IBOE about a week later.

    Today, 6/6, I was able to complete the online application on ILDPR and immediately received my license number. Definitely apply online as it took me less than 5 minutes to complete. Hope this helps.

    @bobkorz: I recommend doing it online, but some people may not have their information processed by IDFPR in time to register online, which would mean you would have to do it via paper.

    @fsu9er24 – i also was able to do the online application at the IDFPR website. From the time I passed (5/23) to today (6/10) was 2.5 weeks, so i would expect that people who found out on 6/8 will be able to register online 🙂
