I am reading all the long hours all the Public accounting folks putting in during busy season and thinking, how is those hours possible for someone to function and do the job right. Even studying now, I learn once my eyes start to close give it up. I have experience working with the typical AR, AP, Bank Reconciliation, Payroll, reviewing financials, but no audit or strong financial experience. I have a 8 year old and my eyes seriously close at 10pm and I go to Church on Sundays. So, I don’t think 170 hours a week will do it for me. Unless, it pays extremely well, so I can afford to hire a decent nanny and know that’s it’s only for the good of the experience and better for my family in 5 years. But, how or where can I get the experience ? I live in PA and they told me I can gain the experience anywhere such as NJ or NY.
Another question: How does it work in Public/Private ? Are you assigned work and it’s up to you how long you take ? Currently, I work with individuals who is in the company for 17+ years an average. I am a newbie with less than 2 years. I find myself bored and taking on other staffs work to not go crazy. I am trying to figure out, is it the workload or individuals taking longer than they should on a given task.
Help me understand ???
