Getting Licensed in IL

    Hi All,

I’m thrilled, like many others today, to finally be done with this exam. I just wanted some clarification on the process post-exam. I live in IL and unfortunately the licensing website isn’t as clear as I would like. I passed the ethics exam.

It seems that I now need to wait a few weeks to get my certificate in an email? Then after I received the certificate, I need to apply for licensure? I wanted to get a head start on applying for the license, but can’t find any application to get me started. Am I moving way too early at this point? I want to get my employer to sign off on the 1 year work experience, but have no luck finding a form.

    Congratulations!

I believe you would need your certificate first and with regards to license application, you can do it online at idfpr.com

I took BEC in May bit I have a scheduled exam next week.. so I am nervous to look at my score (although I felt pretty good on how well I answered BEC) as I am already nervous for this upcoming exam as this coild be my last one… sighhh

Just wanted to share with someone how I feel right now.

    Congratulations again

@Dan you can find the license/work experience sign off form somewhere on the board of examiners website.

Congrats, I had to deal with this today with the ILBOE. Long story short, the ethics exam certificate I had through the AICPA website did not show my score, so I had to call the ILBOE and AICPA to fix. I suggest to do the same if you have the same issue. You should be able to tell if ILBOE received your score by logging into you ILBOE account. Here are next steps:

The ILBOE will email you a certification letter with a # in it. The letter states the following as next steps…

The Illinois Board of Examiners electronically transmits certification data to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation on the first and fifteenth of every month. This provides verification of your CPA certificate to support your license application. Please allow two to three weeks for the data to be processed by the Department after it has been transmitted. In addition, your wall certificate is being prepared and will be forwarded to you in six to eight weeks.

    @ Oisbuddy,

    Thanks for the info!

    @ Maj

Thanks! I would encourage you to check your score. You have a strong audit performance and I would be confident that you can take on BEC. Knowing that you passed gives you that morale boost in getting through the rest of the exams. It has helped me a lot. Good Luck!

    That's great maj! Congrats!

My reg was tough too. I flagged a lot of mcq's and the sims were pretty brutal. I thought I failed leaving the testing center, but ended up passing. Good luck!

@dan or anyone that passed the exam in IL on 8/17 –

Did IDFPR receive your scores yet from the 8/17 score release? I just spoke to ILBOE and they said wait 8 weeks which seems way too long.

    Thanks

On ILBOE's website, it says they send IDFPR scores every 1st and 15th of the month. I think it also said it takes IDFPR about 2 weeks to process them. I really hope it doesn't take the 8 weeks. I guess they are processing 3-4 month's worth of scores as opposed to what they normally do, but still. We've waited so long to begin with – it'd be nice to just get everything done with haha.

    @ois

I've tried applying for licensure on the IDFPR website, but keep getting a message stating that my scores aren't on record. I try every day to see if they did the update, but anticipate it's going to be a two week wait.

@rb2017 – Thanks, in same boat as you.

@Danb – I get the same message, happy to hear someone else is having the same exact issue I am. I was afraid that my score was lost in transition since I spelled out my entire middle name for the IDFPR username, and since ILBOE only has my middle initial.

    Thanks for update guys

@dan and @rb, I just received an automated email from IDFPR that they received my score. They probably received yours as well.

I received it too. It wasn't too bad of an application process. I sent them my money so we'll see how long the final process will take.
