Did anyone have an issue wtih their cost accounting not being accepted? I received my letter back and they said I was deficient 16.5 hours, but said it was only one class. Maybe someone can explain the form to me since it doesn’t make any sense.

My cost accounting class was accepted. Did you take yours at an accredited school? Was it an upper division course?

“I received my letter back and they said I was deficient 16.5 hours, but said it was only one class”. I am not exactly sure what you mean by this. Can you elaborate a little bit more? It might mean that you only need one more accounting class and the remainder of the credits can be business or other. Within the 150 hours you need 36 credits of upper division accounting courses and 39 credits of business courses.

Per the letter, “deficient coverage of upper division cost and managerial accounting, per the education advisory committee ac505 managerial accounting is not an approved course, and therefore credit could not be awarded.”

I attend CUNY-Baruch (2004 graduate) and will receive my masters in April 2013. The standards then in NY were different for the CPA exam.

Ok back to the form, under accounting education it states total hours received 37.5, total hours required to sit 36, total hours for censurer 54. Then it has a section deficient hours to sit “cov cos”, and deficient hours for licensure 16.5

    Under business education program,

    Total hours received 52.5

Total hours required to sit 36

    Total hours for licensure 54

    Deficient hours to sit -BLANK

    Deficient hours for license 1.5

Thank you for responding, I just want to get this done already. I'm not a spring chicken 🙂

I called the state board today. They are less than friendly I have to say. However, I was able to get an answer from them. I need only cost to sit but will require an additional three courses for the license. That's ok with me. The issue was the courses I completed while at community college back in the day.

I feel a little better, and will get my game plan together.
