I wasn’t sure if I had all the credits I needed to sit for the exam so I submitted an application. I really thought I would be denied but that at least I would get a better idea of what I needed to sit.

Well I got an email from NASBA and it looks like I am ready to register for my first exam. I called the FL Board # and the status of application is Approved. I spoke to someone there who also confirmed this. I am really quite surprised. I know I had the Accoutning credits, I have plenty of other credits too but I was afraid that I wasn’t going to meet the Business credits specifically (I have a BA and MA in Social Organizational Psych and an MS in Accounting).

So am I really good to go?? I haven’t received anything in the mail btw. My application was approved on 9/24/12.

I'm not sure what you expect someone on this board to say? Even if someone replied with a big fat no, I would take your states word over a stranger that hasn't seen your application. If you received an email from the NASBA and then called the state as well, you've already confirmed your status.

I wasn't expecting a Yes or No really. Because I haven't been through this process before I was wondering if there was any other part to the process. I just paid to take the first exam and am waiting for my NTS. I am curious if there is another potential review of credits during this process.

Also was wondering if anyone else on this board had a similar experience, I am surprised that my I/O Psych classes could potentially count towards the General Business coursework that FL requires.

When I applied with the State of FL to sit for the exams, I received a transcript evaluation form in the mail, and it detailed the courses that they counted towards the general business requirements, as well as the accounting requirements. The report showed how many hours I was short in total, and then for GB and ACTG. My own evaluation of my transcripts was different than the state's, but the state's was more favorable to me (less credit hours required to reach 150 hours). So I'm going by what they said, and hoping that when I am finished with my exams and additional educational requirements, they don't re-evaluate and change their minds! It would really suck to think I'm done, and find out I have to take another class.

In your case, I would guess that since you have an MS in Accounting, you probably have excess accounting credits that they used towards the general business requirements. I know you have to have some specific GB courses – Macro and Micro Economics, for example – but after that, they can apply excess accounting credits to the GB category.
