Experience Requirement

    Hey all,

I am done with two of my tests, and am hoping to pass the other two by Q2 of this year. I still have to go back to school to reach the 150 credit acquirement – but my question is, can I submit my experience requirement portion now and have it “approved?”

The only reason I ask is that the girl working above me (who has her CPA and I have worked under for 2 years) is moving out of state, and NO ONE left in my department has their CPA. Will she have to be licensed in my state (New York), when all of the other requirements are completed by me?

Does anyone know the general time line…is it even worth having her fill it out now? Or should I start looking at other jobs to start working all over again towards that one year time frame? Thanks!

Just have her filled out the experience form even if it's less than required hours. You do not have to submit the form now, save it, and submit whenever you are done with the exam/education. Also, submitting multiple forms for the required experience hours are okay

Really? I can back date it? I worked under her for two years so it's more than enough from a time perspective. I was just wondering if it mattered if she was not currently a NY CPA when I officially file for my CPA (after the tests and extra credits?)

    Thanks for your help!

I believe NY requires only 1 year of verified accounting experience. No need to sign by CPA. Double check with state board if not sure
