Does anyone know what roles fufill the experience requirement?

I have been working in a bank in a operations position in a bookkeeping type of role (similar to A/R but its not called that). I am current waiting for my Reg results. I have a little over a month left to have been here for a year so I was wondering if this would fufill the experience requirement. The head of our department is a CPA and I’m pretty sure he would sign off if it fufilled the requirement.

Does anyone know if this would qualify?

I would definitely touch base with your State Board of Accountancy. I had a similar situation, and I just emailed the Board here in Missouri with a description of my duties. She forwarded it to the Executive Director and he said my experience would qualify.

They were easy to talk to and very helpful.

It really varies from state to state what the board is looking for, so what they ^^ said.

If you download the work experience form from your state Board website you should get your answer. Every state is different. I remember one applicant saying that his manager had to put percentages of how much of his work was spent on each task. I think he was in CA, but I'm not sure. In FL, there is a box that has to be checked and signed off on by my manager (CPA) about my work experience and next to the box it states, “has had one year of work experience which included providing any type of service or advice involving the use of accounting, attest, compilation, management advisory, financial advisory, tax, or consulting skills. This experience was gained through employment in government, industry, academia, or public practice and constituted a substantial part of the applicant's duties.”

Thanks guys! One more question, since it varies so much from state to state what's stopping someone from applying in a statt that doesnt expect much then just transferring your license to another state because I've heard they don't look into it as much if youvr already been licensed?

I'm sure that happens some, but I think a lot of states have extra requirements to prevent that kind of thing.
