Does anyone know if the accountancy board actually calls your current or former supervisor to verify your experience?

I didn’t leave my past firm on the best terms and I’m afraid that my former supervisor won’t return the board’s calls.

Anyone have any knowledge about this?

    AUD- 97 1x
    REG- 81 1x
    BEC- 79 1x
    FAR- 88 1x

    DONE!

    10/1/12 to 2/28/14

In my state, the experience had to be signed off on by a CPA, but I'm quite sure that they didn't call the CPA or my old boss. My public accounting boss and I parted on less-than-good terms, too, so pretty sure that if they'd call him, I'd have run into issues…which is why I'm quite sure they didn't. 😉

If your old boss won't get back to them I would contact him directly with a nice letter asking him to sign it for you, and if necessary an apology. If he still doesn't do it pay a lawyer to write up something that claims financial hardship(even if there's no legal precedence) and see if that works. If that doesn't work cry :'-(

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

If you completed the experience and your manager refuses to sign they are in violation of the board. Them liking you has no bearing on it. If your manager refuses to comply with your written request you can report them.

    AUD - 2/1/2014 - 92
    BEC - 2/8/2014 - 79
    REG - 5/17/2014
    FAR - 5/21/2014

    CA Ethics Exam - Passed

In the some states the experience form ask whether or not you completed the work with a level of competence relative to a CPA. California does not have this type of form, but in those cases there's wiggle room for an employer to screw you over.

Oh wow that is awful. I would say if they didn't fire you or write you up at any point in time they should not be allowed to give a negative reference (or no reference).

Well, mine signed the experience form but I'm afraid that if the board were to call him and try to verify the information, he won't get back to them or respond. :/
