I just took this a few weeks ago. The format is online and honestly – awful. The first part of it will actually show you how to use it – I would take the time to at least listen to that so you can get used to the tabs.
Its pretty lengthy and you have to at least flip through each slide before you can take the final test (at least I couldn't find a way to skip to the end without the software getting mad).
A lot of the information was common sense and information already learned from taking the CPA exam.
The test itself is also online. You can print that page – which is what I did and it made it a TON easier for how I like to test (cross off known wrong answers – write on the question and circle any questions I wasnt sure on and wanted to come back). When I came back on a different computer later on – they were the same questions in the same order so i just had to record what I did by hand online.
The questions pretty much come from the text and you can open it back up to go back in while you are testing.
To get a 90 – you can only miss like 4 or 5 questions so it was a little intimidating. I thought I was going to fail (as with everything CPA exam related) but ended up passing with a like 96 first try. I don't know what it shows after you fail the first time tho – so I cant give any feed back there.
Oh – Also. Theres a box at the top to select VA. Make sure to check that. I also faxed a hard copy of the CPA certificate to VA with everything else when I was finished and applying (sent application same day) and it only took 2 days to get my license # after application submission.
