Hi guys,
I am a newbie to the US. I finished my BBA (with 150 credits) from University of Toronto in Canada before moving to NY. While I am not worried too much about other courses ( I have more than enough Accounting, Business, etc. courses) there are two in particular that I am worried about. I want to give my CPA Exams asap but before I spend close to 400$ on the initial registration, I just wanted to make sure that I wouldn’t have to retake my tax and corporate law courses here. I know under the list of accounting courses on the NYCPA website, they have International Tax listed as well. Could they count Canadian Individual+Corporate Tax courses under that? Same for business law. Or would I need to retake those courses. I have heard mixed stories. My friend from the same university successfully completed his CPA exams and applied for Colorado state and he didn’t need to retake any courses. On the other hand, another friend from India had to retake both (or 3 if you count indi+corp taxes) courses. If anyone has been through a similar situation for NY or even NJ state, I would appreciate their input.
