Let me start of by saying I have not had the best growing up or college history but I have completely turned my life around so I’ll explain a bit but not putting too much out there. Passed all exams, experience requirement, and ethics. Got approved for license. While filling out the application for registration, the have you ever been convicted question comes up, so:
    During college:
    Plead guilty to misdemeanor possession.
Plead guilty to false statement to police officer for an act being stupidly being drunk in college.
    Plead guilty to misdemeanor paraphernalia.
    After college:
    Plead guilty to misdemeanor possessions.

I can assure you that life is turned around, haven’t looked back on anything. No felonies and nothing that discredits the profession. I have obtained all court records and plan to write a letter as requested.

Can anyone give me advice to this?

I Called the Board. They said I will need to get a true test document from both districts and submit with my application. They said I should be fine because it was a long time ago. As long as I disclose. I truly hope that it’s true.

This is very concerning to me. I have a felony for Manufacture/Deliver THC <200g from 2006 when I was barely 18 years old. It feels like that was practically a different life and I haven't looked back since. I have passed 2 of 4 exams so far and will be finished before the end of this year for sure. This charge from 13-14 years ago better not stop me from getting my license. It sounds like time elapsed is on my side but its still a felony. Up until reading this every colleague and fellow CPA I've spoken to told me not to worry about it.

Cyer- Wow it’s kind of mind blowing as to how self centered you are. The OP is talking about things that actually prevented him from being licensed, and you’re discussing DUI’s from 15 years ago. To me it comes off as insensitive, because it’s really a nonissue, and you’re taking the focus away from the person with the real issue. Seriously get over yourself.

@Cyer That is true, you must get a test copy of all your stuff which is documentation to be sent in with a letter disclosing the event(s), charges, dispositions, etc. Be honest especially if it happened a long time ago. They obviously followed up when the Board met and sent back a letter denying.

@FGD You should be okay especially due to the time lapse. Nonetheless, confirm with the board. Felony is still a felony but you never know.

AnonForAdvice, I hope things work out for you. You finished school and cranked out all four exams and have started your accounting career. Even though the last charges you had were two years ago, you did everything right since then and you are just an approval by some people away from being a CPA. Damn, what a shame. Maybe when your probation is complete they can reconsider you for licensure. Again, I really hope things work out.

I personally glad you got denied. I wish the board had much more clear rules and regulation that would tell people if they will be able to get license base on their criminal record. No one with criminal record work as CPA, yes this might sound harsh but once person made a serious mistake and got convicted they should be denied professional licenses be it CPA, attorney or a doctor license.
