    Hi guys,
First time poster. I just sent off my AOI to the Texas State Board and it was received on 7/25. I just took care of my fingerprinting this morning 7/31. I’m just curious to how long it normally takes for them to approve my education requirements and then allow me to Sit for the exam. I am trying to take Reg in Q3 if at all possible so I can retake in Q4 if I fail before the new tax law comes out on the exam. Is this plausible? Thanks in advance for the help!

    Hello,
I just pulled my timeline for reference. I was a bit unusual as I applied much before I intended to take the exam. (Since the AOI is good for two years).
April 4, 2017: Mailed Application of Intent
April 12, 2017: State board emailed acknowledgement that they had received AOI on April 7.
April 14, 2017: Let me know the documents that I was missing

January 3, 2018: Mailed transcripts to state board (had just hit 150 hours)
January 14, 2018: Send an email to state board requesting a status update
January 15, 2018: Hear back that I have been approved and should get a computer-generated email soon
January 17, 2018: Received system generated email that AOI was approved
January 19, 2018: Complete TSBPA eligibility application
January 23, 2018: Eligibility Application is approved by TSBPA allowing me to pay for NTS
January 25, 2018: NTS approved- schedule exam with Prometric.
January 27, 2018: Go time- exam 1 completed

Long story short, if you sent in everything required the first time I would expect there is a pretty good chance you can take it Q3, especially if you have some flexibility in testing center location/times. If you left things off/they find deficiencies, I would expect to take it Q4. I would definitely recommend following up by email as I think that expedited mine. Also, it's possible yours could be quicker, as I expect they may have been behind with end-of-semester rush and holidays. Good luck, the process is MUCH easier for the 2nd-4th exams!
